I base my confidence on my willingness & capacity to learn. When paired with my ability to think critically and often fearless nature, I can be put to good use for the purpose of being productive. I pride myself in choosing to live a life of moral integrity despite recognizing that I’m also clever enough to exploit weakness along the same processes. I show compassion by mending or fortifying those weaknesses as I come across them to be right with God and that makes me feel good about myself. It’s an ongoing learning experience but I do believe intelligent people doubt themselves more than those who are less intelligent. I had to overcome self doubt and a lot of the motivation came from inappropriately trusting others were more competent. That’s how I learned this about myself and set boundaries and values to live by. Intelligent people need mentors & guidance also. That’s why I enjoy JP so much, bc the most capable in our society need good direction if we want them to contribute in a way that would be most beneficial for society at large.

I remember seeing him on some kind of a show where they asked Jordan Peterson what his biggest fear was and I think the answer was somewhere in the ballpark of not knowing enough or kind of feeling stupid. I'm paraphrasing of course and I just remember thinking that is just too high of a bar to set and must be so stressful. I was always told in the medical field that the more you know the less you know. Meaning that we don't even realize how much knowledge is out there. it's almost inconceivable, but you start to learn things and even more possibilities emerge in your head. Such an honorable and intellectual man with a beautiful family. just wish he wouldn't put so much pressure on himself like that. It's too stressful and he seems to be a very good guy

The title of this video “The Struggles of Being Highly Intelligent” is sort of misleading. What Jordan Peterson is actually trying to say is that regardless of your IQ, falling in love with oneself too much can cause issues like antisocial behavior and tendencies. Antisocial meaning you want everything your way since you’ve decided that your way is the best way, caused by overinflated pride. In some sense, you might think you’re smart and that your way is the only way, but that is the condition of somebody whom is egotistical and that attitude can be dangerous to oneself and others affected.

I thought the same. He’s not describing intelligence. An intelligent individual recognizes their flaws, sometimes to a detriment, and is quite aware of their own ignorance or else they wouldn’t seek knowledge. He’s describing narcissists or megalomaniacs.

Certain parenting styles tend to produce children like this. Always praising the kids, telling them how smart and special they are, not distinguishing between actual skills they have versus average abilities. It's important to teach children how to judge their own efforts and even though it might feel like a whip on their pride sometimes, it's essential to avoid creating a little devil.

Which in another term could be called “ cerebral narcissist “. I have seen many supper nerds like that, they are intellectually very successful and master at their academy, but then when you close to them especially in their personal life, you realize that these people has an over inflated ego and they only know how to operate from their ego. They know they are very smart in learning and their knowledge, they think their way is the best way in every areas. But if you look closer with them, you will see that they have no true empathy even though they act like their those “ kind, follow the rules supper nerd”, their empathy has been taking down by their pride and ego, they can’t do real love and real intimacy just like any other type of personality dysfunctional traits. You can count probably most of those huge CEOS which included Facebook founder Mark, space X Elon musk, apple Steve, that blood fraudulent Elizabeth, all are different types of the narcissistic or personality dysfunctional people.

@@dkatomski You can be intelligent and not know a lot nor what to seek a lot. But you and Jordan state as if it’s not possible to be SO SMART that you’re right almost all the time.. It’s very possible but people’s pessimistic view on things and limited thinking keep them from seeing that being possible which it absolutely is! Pride isn’t bad when you know when it’s useful and when it’s not… You just may have most of the answers but you have to be honest with yourself at the times when you don’t. If you’re truly intelligent then you’ll have great solutions granting you the right to pride! Just don’t let it consume you.. It’s not about eliminating pride altogether but using it in healthy doses otherwise you’re removing your useful shadow…

I realize that we use the term "slow" to refer to unintelligent people, but don't sell yourself short! You may simply literally be a slow thinker. People can be of roughly equal intellectual capability, but process their train of thought at radically different speeds. Some "slow" people are actually very intelligent, capable of deep, meaningful thought and / or introspection, but it takes them longer to reach the conclusion of individual thoughts or concepts. Conversely, some people think at a rapid pace, so fast that when they're speaking or solving a problem, others of equal capability struggle to keep up with them because they process information at a slower pace. For example, think of the difference between when you're at your most alert and focused, and when you're sleepy. This is a prime illustration of the difference between fast and slow thinking, because we all experience it. Some people's baseline is fast, but they slow down to "average" when they're tired and they speed up to "very fast" when they're on a stimulant; conversely, some people's baseline is "slow," and they slow down to "very slow" when they're tired, but speed up to "normal" when they're on stimulants. Also, JP has built his life on thinking deeply. Professionally, he has structured his career around taking time to think deeply about the philosophy of Life. Personally, he lives in accordance with the conclusions he has drawn in the course of his philosophical mediations. He has spent far more time than you and I thinking deeply about the meaning of Life, thus he can speak profound Truth on the subject. He isn't necessarily more capable of intelligent thought than the average person (although I believe he is), it's more a matter of him A) having the discipline, B) having the time to devote to meaningful thought. Does that make sense? LOL! I kinda rambled.

Okay when my intellect used to be really high I was really articulate I was able to think quick and I got the gist of things very quickly. But as I've slowed down through the years there's a deeper appreciation for meaning being slow isn't necessarily bad thing just how you're processing you can catch on to more meaningful things easier also you tend to be better problem solving more than you think not necessarily in mathematical equations. You can explain things better you filter out any information you don't really need do you understand? That slow thing isn't necessarily lack of intelligence it's actually a dynamic once you begin to play around with it you'll start to understand just focus on what matters

I thought this was going to be about something else. My struggle is with the constant need for the pursuit of knowledge, knowing that I know next to nothing, no matter how much I keep learning. It's never enough. As a highly intelligent person, I know my shit stinks. That's the easy part. I have no quams about being wrong. I care about problem solving and solutions and I dont care if the ideas come from me or someone else or who is right or wrong. The problem can become there could be many solutions and it takes a lot of time, patience, and introspection to pick amongst the best ones. The energy expenditure can be downright draining. Knowing your faults and weaknesses and constantly searching for knowledge and truth is incredibly taxing; I have to convince myself the hole has a bottom and ill eventually reach it but I wont. It's an abyss. It's a light at the end of the tunnel that has no end; I will never reach that light. Like the Joker, I'm a dog chasing cars who never catches the car. I think I can but I never will. That's the internal struggle that bangs around in my brain every day.

Majority of the time we are aware of what’s the truth and we are right in a sense that our way is the right way, because we have the ability to feel when something is off everyone has it. But people have a way of presenting beautiful lies to you and to manipulate you to get you to see it their way when they know deep down that it’s bs! We have to trust our gut but also respect and surround ourselves with good people. The problem with that is everyone is changing daily no one stays the same it’s just our habits and what we choose to believe that is actually the issue. I’m not making any excuse for anyone but sometimes applying ourselves as better overall people everyday we wouldn’t have to be deceived by anyone else because we would know that we can trust them. For an example let’s say I go presenting myself to a woman saying how I’m this and I’m that and can do this I have all this. She wouldn’t know right off the back if I’m that type of person really because what she can see is from what I present to her maybe looking true but eventually I’ll have to stop trying to impress her and show who I really am and what I have to offer. I may have given her something to doubt but when we met I presented a lie soo beautiful to her that she went against her gut and gave me a chance anyways. Is it her fault or my fault for deceiving her and painting a picture of who I was or is it me for approaching her as a false image?

If employers where allowed to do job screenings based on IQ this wouldn't be as big an issue. I've had this problem many times, those appointed above make dumb decisions that I know will fail but they don't listen at all. And I have to sit back watch it fail and then deal with the aftermath myself because shit rolls down hill. If people were put in ideal positions this could be greatly mitigated.

Essentially, intellect is a measure of interest in abstract ideas. People with high intellect crave exposure to novel information, even when it is complex. They are highly curious and exploratory, and actively want to find, tackle and solve challenging problems.

some strange things have happened in my life that i've repressed and forgotten over time...and about 10 years ago i was so lonely that i was determined to end my life.. i fell in the middle of the night to a deserted one I went there, I tried to call 2 of my friends again, but no one answered their cell phone...so I walked the last few meters, I cried a lot, a lot...and when I put the knife on, a terrible scream suddenly came out of the Heaven and it came closer and closer...etc etc...after that I said to myself: boy live decently don't lie etc etc...I kept the promise I made to myself...and then Corona came...I asked me: what did I do to deserve this..? why did the good god let me live when about 10 years later a stranger is supposed to determine my life... the voice came back and said: think about your life, think about the events in your childhood and in yours Youth..I've lived through my life at least 6 or 7 times and haven't found a single mistake..and suddenly my thoughts exploded...at work I realized which colleagues were vaccinated and which weren't..it seemed to me that when I was with vaccinated talk as if I were talking to dead people...I don't want to write more. .this is part of my story..!

It basically counts for everyone who lets their pride get in the way. An extreme example can be seen in DBZ, with Vegeta. He never gets higher up than Goku, a guy who just wants to do the best for everyone. Being so full of pride takes you down at some point. The more intellectual, however, often have more power through their building up a lot, and they can be even more dangerous than those with lower intelligence, making the higher IQ ones steer the lower IQ ones the way they like to. Look at the activist movements, as they are full of lower intelligent people, and the higher IQ ones move them so that these lower IQ ones do whatever it takes, to follow the higher IQ ones' lead, without really knowing what they're doing! Many woke up, and saw how bad they've done, but in the same time those people woke up, many others started to follow, and under the "don't be outdated boomers" mentality, they think that moving in whichever direction, is always good. Even backwards!

I have never heard of DBZ with Vegeta, with or without Goku. I do know that your sweeping assumption about "the activist movements" is without any proof. I wonder if you've ever spoken to ANY activist, ever! If you had, you would know that what you ASSUMED isn't true. Could it be that they were trying to change things that you don't want to change? Are you a Trump supporter? A racist? Avoiding paying taxes? Or maybe you're just a lonely gamer with no friends and you're jealous. If you're for freedom, justice, and equality before the law, you're welcome to stand up and be counted.
