Before NIL, there has been a issue on recruitment and how HBCUS on a whole recruit. Every youth with talent is not getting NIL deals but also are Coaches in HBCU really trying to recruit for talent or fill a roster? . There are 50 states in the US and in each state there are high schools and middle schools with athletic programs with a lot of undiscovered talent. In the inner cities there is a lot of talent but most can't afford to attend sporting Camps but if you visit most of the sandlots courts you can see that undiscovered untapped talent. When Pete Carroll was Coaching USC he made it a point to hang out in the inner city and he was finding that talent no one was looking for. UCLA was not even looking in those areas and you see the results. That is basic recruitment. We can use NIL as an excuse or we can do a double-loop ( change the mindset and strategy) and relook at recruiting talent that NIL and POWER 5 is overlooking. With baseball why are we not looking into Cuba, Columbia, Honduras and other foreign strong baseball countries. Just a comment and a thought.
