It is for me a bit of a strange situation about the asking price and what you are going to pay in the end? When real estate agency doing is for me very unfair so the change that you are succeed to by something is back to zero... We bought a house in The Netherlands and did pay exactly what the asking price was of the house, so no surprises of changing the price. And can get a Mort-age if you wish of 123 % of the asking price, so save some money for rebuilding the house when needed it. And the interest is by almost all of the real estate the same and we weir lucky to get it under the 2 % ! But for us on the Continent is it not very attractive anymore to buy a house in the U.K. or Scotland or Wales now Brexit is a fact. Very pity because we would like to buy a house in country but that ship has sail t ..... Hopefully some day the rules will change and we will move to Scotland !! Wow - the property market seems really different in the Netherlands compared to UK. If someone wanted to finance renovations on a property that they are buying here, they would probably need to take out a bridging loan and then swap that over to a mortgage once the repairs are completed 🤔 Yes indeed it is a strange system here in Scotland, and it certainly caught us by surprise as first time buyers. Having said that, properties in Scotland overall do tend to cost less than further south of the border, so we’ll possibly get more for our money compare to if we lived in England 🏡💸. Ah Brexit - yes indeed, unfortunately it did scupper many potential plans to move more freely between other countries which is a shame. We’re really glad you liked our video of us sharing our thoughts and experiences of getting onto the property ladder.
