Funnily enough, your point at 7:51 reminds me of some experiments I had done a while ago with the Battle Memory in Mother 3. I was interested in how the game said the New Year's Eve Bomb's bio stated it could be a dud, so I got curious and tested it out on every enemy in that mode. It worked on _every_ minor enemy but almost no boss enemies. The bosses it did work on were the King Statue (the gimmick boss revolving that item) and the Cactus Wolf. The latter was odd in that it was much like the Fuzzipede in your situation; not only should he use his boss status to resist the attack, but access to that power/item can only be accessed in a future chapter, making it mostly a moot point. Just an interesting anecdote. Cool video, Stryder.

5:35 my guess is that whenever an ally gets "hit"(by colliding with a hurtbox or being attacked(both might just tell whatever entity they hit to take X amount of damage)). the game tries to apply damage to that ally. but because you arent in a battle. their hp isent pressent / able to be changed. so it just defaults to mario. tho this might not be true as other allies can touch the lava and mario doesnot suddenly take damage. tho maby it is true because maby they made it so when their above lava their hitboxes get disabled so it doesnot happen?

What if it was the other way around? As in, taking 2 damage is the intended behavior and all the others are messed up. My guess is that originally, Mario is supposed to take 2 damage on all hazard damage. However, after some testing they realize its too much and decided to reduce it to one. But the damage dealt by hazards is apparently set individually for every possible hazard interaction, and whoever was changing all the damages missed "While holding Watt". There isn't a single "touch lava take damage" code, since you're not supposed to take damage while riding Lakilester. I'm just not buying an explanation involving partner hitboxes since I can't imagine why someone would go out of their way to add damage interaction with partner's at all since they don't have hp or such. They're like toads, they don't have hp. All they do is push and be pushed by mario.

7:21 As a CADD student what he was doing was he made the 2D Texture and object away from the main area I do this to when I have to add more of the same assets. I add and make them away from the main area and copy them then add the copies to the area as deemed necessary making that bush be what all bushes come from essentially making that the master bush. Sadly are dev did not remove the master bush after closing out on development resulting in this. That is why its far away but still lined up roughly to the stage.

I can almost guarantee you the double coin glitch is caused by the mirror mechanic. I haven't played the game, but presumably, they have a playable mirror mario inside the mirror, as well as mirror coins. Even if they're not being displayed, they could be there, but hidden. When you collect the foreground coins, it's possible mirror Mario is collecting mirror coins.

5:57 If you wanted my take on how that is, I would gamble to guess that the reason this happens, is probably due to some variable confusing the code to make the game think two Marios were jumping into the lava, making it deal one damage to both, but this would just damage the class itself, in this case, Mario, twice. If this is right, then the coding is likely programmed in a way that makes the game set Mario to a unique class than the other characters, naturally, because he is the player character. Otherwise, it is causing some unique damage output based on the two hitboxes available, when Mario jumps in with Watt, this could mean that Mario is parenting all damage to his class when Watt is being carried. Of course I am not a programmer, based on what is happening, there must be an issue when Mario grabs watt that causes the 2 damage thing. Perhaps it was a relic of an old hazard trick the developers left in and forgot to program out or something. If it is anything related to the double coin glitch, it is probably calling to damage the player but twice, but only in the instance of holding Watt, and is likely another mistake in the code.

1:13 -- I found another typo with that sign. After you have Merlon reveal that the Toads blocking the path to Koopa Bros. Fortress are the Koopa Bros. themselves, if you read the front of the sign it says "Frantic Fuzzies Conquer Koopa Village -- Recently, it seems that Fuzzies have invaded Koopa Village and *and* are causing mayhem."
