Strymon Brig Pedal Demo: Beautiful Analog Delay Tones

In this video, I'm exploring the Strymon Brig pedal, a high-quality delay effect pedal that gives you three delay modes. I never owned an old analog delay back in the day, and now I'm wondering what was wrong with me back in the day... because if those old delays sound anything like the Brig, then I was missing out.
I tried to spend a little time at the end talking about who the pedal is a good fit for and if it's worthy of its price. I don't think I particularly covered this well in the video, if I'm being honest. So let me add here that I'm not aware of a delay pedal right now that delivers so many features for this price point. If I was shopping for a delay pedal and my budget was 300, I wouldn't think twice about grabbing a Brig.
This pedal is VERY good-it sounds beautiful and makes you want to play the hell out of it.
I know I say that about all of my pedals, but that's because I only demo the pedals that I really love. I don't tell you about the ones that I buy, try out, dislike and promptly sell. Just wanted to mention that...

Out of all the reviews/demos of the Brig, yours is where I only got to finally understand how the FILTER knob works haha. I thought it only filters in or out the delay noise and never knew it has some EQ capability as well, thanks so much!

I love the way you do demos, Aaron, and this one sounds great. "I don't tell you about the ones that I buy, try out, dislike and promptly sell." Personally, I'd love to know about the pedals you didn't like. My guess is others would as well.

I’ve actually struggled a bit with this question. So many of the companies that make the pedals I buy & use are small companies, and I also know that my enjoyment of a piece of gear is quite arbitrary. I’ve run into pedals that everyone else seems to love and I don’t really gel with. I’d definitely call out a pedal that was a piece of shit, a ripoff, or a scam-but I’ve honestly never run into something like that. My approach is to simply talk about the gear I like, and for gear that I don’t like… well, I’d hate to steer people away from something that they might actually love because they have a different guitar, amp, playing style, or just taste. I'd also hate to put a negative review into the void and harm a small company when that piece of gear simply doesn't work for me. It's a weird dilemma. 

But honestly, I haven’t bought and sold a pedal because I thought it was a poorly made, inferior product. It’s always been more of a “this pedal doesn’t work with my sound” or “this thing is too complicated for my simple brain” or "this is a good delay, but my Brig is better" :) Thanks for asking me about this, I had to sit down and clarify my thoughts on this issue, and it's an important one. @@AaronRusch I appreciate that, Aaron. I see it's a struggle because you don't want to talk crap about any brands, but I honestly don't think it has to be that. Even just "this pedal didn't work for me and here's why" I think would be useful. But I totally understand not wanting to do that. We'll keep watching either way! 🤘

I own this pedal , I want to buy the mini switch ,will that work for more repets? Or designate a favorite type of delay?

Hello! I don't have a MiniSwitch, but from Strymon: MiniSwitch can be set to activate Infinite Repeats, serve as an external tap tempo, or recall a single saved FAVORITE preset. I think it only fulfills one of these functions at a time, as you have to play with internal jumpers to set its functionality, so a MultiSwitch might be a better choice of you want all these options at the same time.

I listened with stereo headphones and, I'm sorry but, everything was in mono?

It doesn't matter. I've since bought this pedal and, although there are stereo inputs and outputs, it is NOT a TRUE stereo pedal (like other pedals from Strymon like the Blue Sky or Big Sky). The output delayed signal is in mono. Although there is a Modulation knob that creates an artificial stereo effect by inverting the phase of the two channels and modulating it with an LFO, the original independent audio information from each channel of the input is lost, having been merged into a single mono source. And it's a shame on an otherwise fine product.
