The Centrum in Worcester MA, Nov. 19 1988. I was 15 and only my second ever rock concert. My friends and I were on the floor about 5 rows back. It was magic, as music should be at that age. Truly awe inspiring show, one favorite song after another, to hear those harmonies and heavy riffs and solid drumming recreated right before our eyes and ears was an adrenaline rush of pure joy. I'm enough of a nerd that I burned a cd with the songs in order of the setlist! This would have been a perfect tour for a live album to cap that era of the band. Alas... thanks for the upload, great memories!

I saw this tour when they came through Monroe, LA. It was a fantastic show! I was 15, sophomore in high school.

This was the first concert I was ever at! For some reason, my grandma and aunt thought it'd be a great idea to take a baby just over a year old to a rock concert lmfao I've loved Stryper ever since, even as a non-Christian.

Still relevant in 2024. I can remember many of these moments through the years in my minds eye. A moment, an experience, frozen in time... No smart phone recording in the audience just total connection. We cant think for ourselves anymore. We don't know how to make music anymore. We don't know how to just bask in the glory of the moment. Everything is multi tasking. No wonder depression and mental illness is running rampant.

I went to a show on this tour on January 1989. Great show. And the set list sounds identical to the concert I went. $18 for the ticket .

I didn’t hear any authentic high notes live in the first song here in God we trust. Every high note was lip synced. You can hear it if you listen carefully. Micheal probably didn’t want to blow out his voice on the first song.
@gulanhem94958 ай бұрын
Yes, many of the songs from the "In God We Trust" album were lip synced during this tour, at least partially.

rubbish how do u hear lip syncing?

@@shanemartin8904Because it sounds too perfect and like the record! Backing vocals on Calling on you are tracks! Too perfect!

Ive seen them live back in the late 80's. MS did the high notes I was in front row and saw him, and im a singer. they do admit the in god we trust intro was a tape. The backing vocals were perfect but you can run vox through a double effect to broaden the backing vox...its not hard to do. Plus, ive heard oz fox sing and he is phenomenal...with great similiarity to MS...although MS vocal range was for sure 4-5 semitones higher

First song has to have the vocals from the studio right? Sounds too dead on.

bking vocals for sure

Michael actually addressed this tour in his book. The lead vocal is live, he really could reproduce those screams back then. Harmonies are taped though everyone's mics are on to augment it. Rob played to a click, the only tour where they used click tracks and tapes and Michael admitted it was the only way it could be pulled off the way they wanted. Also the reason they don't touch that album these days, lol.

So where are all the high vocal notes from the albums? Guess they were just studio tricks?
@ptv7183 жыл бұрын
Albums will always have studio tricks. But Michael does hit his fair share of live high notes.

This has been gone over extensively in the books written about the band "Loud N' Clear" and to some extent "Honestly" Michael's autobiography. This IGWT tour was what Oz referred to as "The sample from hell tour". They had lights, backing tracks, keyboard vocal tracks etc. that can be played on demand to get that thick and full background vocal sound and possibly lead vocals as well. I saw them on the THWTD and IGWT tour as well (as well as many times since), and they ABSOLUTELY used backing tracks in those shows. I was a kid and could tell it sounded too much exactly like the record on tracks like "Calling on You" and "Always there for you" with huge backing vocals. Do not misunderstand, they are and always will be my favorite band of all time. And they KILL IT LIVE every single night. But Michael has talked about "singing to tracks" before in interviews as well, you can look that up on Al Gore's amazing internet! In summary: two must-have things for any Stryper fan: the books Loud N' Clear, and Honestly-Michael Sweets autobiography. You will learn so many things about the band and what they have been through.
