it's not the style of music that make it secular or Christian. The lyrics are what does that. Yes there is Christian metal and Stryper happens to be the best.
@SefniAsheforr6 жыл бұрын
Well that is true, lyrics don't define genre and its Stryper's incredible musical talent that has come to define them by most of their fans. im someone who doesn't consider himself to be part of a religion, but i absolutely adore Stryper. and despite my irreligious nature, I love what they stand for. I'm not fully into Christianity per-say, but they preach its best qualities. They stand for great principles and have had more balls than most metal bands for sure. They stoof for something that cast them into the negative by both sides. Hardline Christians calling them deceivers and metal fans calling them lame. They had the balls and the conviction to say screw it and hold to what they stood for. I think it's that, that has really made them so beloved over the years by the faithful and faithless alike. they are talented as all hell (all heaven?), and stand by principles unwaveringly. that is admirable to most (especially those who value great music).

CivicSTS Have you ever read the part when the Pharisees accused Jesus of driving out demons in the name of Beelzebub (Satan)? His response was that a house divided cannot stand. If Jesus drove out demons, then how could he be of Satan? Same with Stryper- if they are telling people (in the song, Mercy Over Blame) things like, "When we all reach heaven, there will be no shame, 'cause when we stand before Him, it's mercy over blame"? That's the direct opposite of Satan's lies- he wants us to think we are too bad for Jesus, he wants us to think that on judgement day, Jesus will point a finger and list all of our sins. Honestly, this debate has been going on since the 80s, and the more people condemn Stryper, the more they make themselves look foolish. You have no idea what these guys have been through, so who gave you the right to sit and tell us they're from Satan? PS- I grew up in a Christian household, church, a Christian school, and I've been a Christian for many years now, and I don't "feel my spirit troubled" by listening to these guys. If anything, since I started listening to them, I feel closer to God because their songs really show how much He truly loves us.
@UsUnitedClan10 жыл бұрын
how can Jesus be Satan or of Satan? Well here we go! Ready to start a controversy? Funny how everything bad that happens in the world gets blamed and scapegoated on this imaginary figure named Satan by the "christian" community. While, the non "christian" community says "how could a god allow this crap to happen?" Yet, since the creation of "christianity" "christians" have been killing, judging, and persecuting non-christians...all in the name of Jesus! Pointing the finger was first started by the god of your religion in which he has called satan a lot of things with no retort from Satan at all....isn't that interesting that we only have one account and one side of that story? If Satan/Lucifer really existed then I would really love be the one to interview him on this! So who really are the liars there bud? There are always two sides to every story and it has always been foolish to only listen to one! As far as Stryper is concerned...who gives a shit? iT'S MUSIC! They are no more christian than Slayer and nor more non christian than Slayer! However, in the beliefs of "christians" they are passing on god's message through music! Bullshit! They are like a church making the almighty dollar bill on the name of Jesus! they struck it rich just like that church you go to by passing on the name of Jesus! There is no difference from them than any other band that has ever made music and struck it rich by doing so! It is the reason they are doing it!

Us United Clan P.S. I like Stryper...music anyway even though I hate religion!
@upmperthay10 жыл бұрын
Us United Clan I'm only stepping in because of the classic atheists' question, "how could God allow this crap to happen" that keeps coming up. Due to most "Christians" APPARENTLY, having no idea how to present the answer, I will, if & only if, you want to read it.... In short (& to me & probably to you, rather obvious), the philosophical/biblical answer to the question is that man made the choice of eating the only item, in the garden of Eden, that would lead to death & possibly damnation, out of the MANY other items that would have maintained eternal life & paradise on earth. In doing so, he more or less chose to give Lucifer control of the Earth, instead of God. Alias, man screwed it up. That's basically the reason "life's hellish...." :-) I, myself, (as if you care to know...) lean more toward believing that hell is only for; Lucifer (who coaxed the, now fallen, angels (also known as demons, ghosts or spirits of the dead), into trying to take over Heaven), the antichrist & his side kick & probably all fallen angels. In the new testament, God presented a 2nd chance, for those who choose to take it, to change their destination from eternal death to eternal life, & to eventually live in paradise again, which, of course, requires the person to believe that Jesus was the son of God, that he was sacrificed for mans' sins, that he arose from the dead, for the person to try to be a good example for others & to try to get others to believe & do the same. When it comes to witnessing, the bible is pretty clear about simply asking a person if they want to be saved, but NOT to pester them to death.... As for sinners, I think that they're going to be left on the Earth, and in the process be "executed" once, by the fire falling from the heavens, which is in the book of Revelations. Eternal torture for humans, in my opinion, is very unlikely... As another "in case you care", I'm a semi-conservative Libertarian & therefore not a typical Christian. I think everyone has the right to say, do, or not do, believe or not believe anything & everything they want to, as long as it doesn't infringe on others' rites to do the same. I'd even carry on a conversation with Luciferians, as long as they're polite. So If you choose to be an Atheist, go for it... Take it easy! :-) P.S. Most of the past murders that are assumed to be committed by "Christians" were performed by the Catholic church, which, in the process, killed quite a huge number of protestant Christians. So there's a HUGE difference between Catholics (who worship a man (the pope) & a woman (Mary) & believe that that man (the pope) has the rite to order mass executions) & Protestants (who only worship the God-trinity = God the father, God the son & God the holy spirit). As far as the women who were accused of being Wiccans, by those 2 little Salem brats, & were executed by the one group of Christians (until another group of Christians stopped them), their number was VERY VERY FEW compared to the number executed in Europe, which was controlled mostly by the catholic church.
@UsUnitedClan10 жыл бұрын
umperthay Thanks your reply and for being polite in your comment. I will try and do the same so if anything I type here seems harsh, it isn't really meant that way. It is just me being direct. The eating of the apple is a philosophical metaphor! It actually didn't happen in those terms exactly that way. There two things that probably happened that seem more logical than that! The knowledge of good and evil is a natural paradox for mankind in understanding our own being here and life itself. It t's like looking at night and day and that is why the concepts of light and dark are prevalent in any and all religions. The explanation of humans acting against an authority of course has to do with pointing the finger and placing blame elsewhere....hence, Lucifer, Satan, the devil, becomes the accused of our actions. He truly is a scapegoat and a patsy for the irresponsibility of mankind's own actions. Thus, the literal story cannot be a factual statement but a metaphor explanation and description of what really occurred. Or, the story is a complete fictional fabrication explaining the natural manners of human beings without the understanding of what drives us to act in specific ways. This would explain the creation of the scapegoat! I am not an atheist just so you know! Any act, under or in the guise or disguise of Jesus Christ in order to provide witness or further the agenda of testimony and linear movement of the "Christian" religion. is solely acting under the definition and the description of being a " Christian." The acts by the Catholics in Europe and everywhere else is and was under and within those same definitions and descriptions for being "Christians." Thus, the crimes against millions and the crimes they still commit today were and are being done by "Christians." There is no difference between any of the religions they follow the same pathways! As for the holy trinity...what a concept that contradicts itself! None of this explains anything about the original question that was asked. Why is it that there is not a story or a side from this Lucifer, Satan, Devil dude that supposedly exists? Why is it all based on a one-sided story that condemns the other without any or no response at all? Surely , if this figure existed he would have retorted something in return! We all know that the person who condemns another as loudly as this Lucifer, Satan, Devil dude has been, they are usually the guilty or the stated! Thank you for your response!
@upmperthay10 жыл бұрын
Us United Clan If I implied, or appeared to imply, that you, were an atheist, or of any other belief that you aren't, it was unintentional. I, myself, view Lucifer/Satan as a psychopathic extreme narcissist, who is very intelligent, mainly due to age, who has changed his tactics to more of a stealth mode. But as I basically said previously, to each his own.... Have fun!, me. - I hope our example of polite conversation, not only teaches other Christians the proper way to converse with people they don't agree with, but also causes them to converse with them in the same, or at least a similar fashion, cause it sure would be a nice change to see. (Plus, what kind of an impression is sarcastically butting heads with someone most likely to leave... hmmm?)
