The last shot in this video is great because it shows how quickly and steeply the pitch & roll maneuver can be.

It’s a damned tragic shame that she was wrecked, and by bureaucratic inertia of all things. As John Young pointed out, the orbiters always took care of their occupants. No astronaut was killed by an orbiter itself. Columbia and Challenger were taken down by the failure of other parts that they depended on to get where they were going.

Wow you can actually see astronaut on the window of orbiter, never after shuttle or before you couldn't see person inside a space craft during lift off, shuttle is unique in that perspective 😮😊 the errie sound that you here during twang of the shuttle are pumps in solid rocket boosters ready to ignite 💥

The footage in the IMAX movie has voice over and does not include the last 20 seconds this is in this video. Is there any more available from this particular source?

Why are there some extra black on the tail and wing on the Columbia. Why is it part of the design on this shuttle but not on the others?
@d.g91 Жыл бұрын
Columbia was the first space shuttle built. Challenger, Discovery, Atlantis & Endeavor were built later on
