I gotta say, I cued up a sts9 show for fun thinking back to my college days, and I’m just blown away by how great the sound still is, if not better than back in early 2000s. Wow man. So much props

It's weird, I last saw STS9 in 2010 and had just started learning how to use Ableton Live because I wanted to make music like they did. I don't even know if they were using Live back then, I see in this video that they do now though. I was sitting here playing around with some music and the thought occurred to me that they were the reason I even started doing this and I hadn't even listened to them in so long. This set is just so amazing and I realize that I've missed out on some great music all these years. I subscribed and I'll never forget again. I almost can't forgive myself for having done so in the first place.

@@RogerFaught the playing on this set is top notch, but for me, the mix is what absolutely sets it off. The bass just thumps without being too overpowering. It's like actually being at the show, which is so rare for a concert recording.

Ween all know sts9 ain't ever not evolving and becoming more and more masters of the art. Anyone who is alive in this world with headphones or speakers and hear this without outside influences can't not like. Same for bone thugs, sade, jj cale, dead, umph, Badu, SRV, OUTKAST, Pantera, steely dan, primus or tapping a desk. Even nickle back be making me turn the volume up. Fuck drake and all the diddys of the world tho

1.25.08. First of over a bill for me and counting and things are looking soooo good now. A few rough patches towards the end of murph… I do miss the murph I grew to love. But Alana right now and everyone is just on a different level than they ever have been before. See y’all at the Ogden and red rocks comin up.
@bullwinklemoose82916 ай бұрын
@@prime_9 They're a better band now than the Murph years. Just my opinion, but they're tighter and the jams have turned songs into individual unique concert expressions. I also love that they just play and don't do all of the Murph between-song bullshit. That was always unnecessary and distracting to me. They just exude pure class all night long...high quality music and nothing else. Again just my humble opinion.

Mine would be summer camp in 2011. I was 16, and I live about 40 minutes away from the fest. Me and all my buddies ate some really good white on white about 2 hours before the show. Stole my face, never got it back. 🤘

A better and jazzier verison of what they once were, maybe the music just isn’t for you anymore? A lot of this is what you bring to the table
@panichead7 Жыл бұрын
If you think the band is better without Murph that's your spun opinion. 🎉 97% of us strongly disagree but thanks for stopping to let me know I no longer have a place in the mix seeing as how it's not for me. I value your statement brother , keep jazzy 😅😂😅😂
@Chriscarpenter2 Жыл бұрын
@@panichead7 Yeesh. Where did you get your 97% number? Was there a survey I missed? Cause it seems to me that since covid, this fanbase has been way more on fire for this jammier, more explorative version of the band than ever before. At least since 2007ish. Its a different vibe, sure. But so is panic after Mikey died. The music rolls along and evolves whether you like it or not
@nikolazaimov87 Жыл бұрын
no worries bro, there is section of the old fanbase that wont ever agree, which is totally fine, I wish theyd come to more shows these days. best not engage them on it over the internet though, youll only open a reason for them to convince you to hate the current version. Musically, for me, they always fuckingggggg nail it and have always given me something new, fresh and crisp to enjoy each show. Again, personly, the only thing that causes issues is badly balanced audio, which was more of a problem (for me only) 2017-2019, with some shrill shows, that required good hearing aids, too many high frequencies and vast whooshing sounds that took way too much space in the sound and drowned the sweet sweet sweet musicians' skill out. Luckily, for my ears, I think they've been sounding FUCKING AMAZING the last year or two. Always changing, always morphing, like a real living being.... this is why I connect with this band :)
@franklee6301 Жыл бұрын
I'd wager you're a tarp kinda fella and overly dramatic at that. Murph lost his way and forgot the point as did many who claim his presence made tribe better. Instead of bashing these folks why not go watch Jimmie shred. I've seen both groups at RR more times than I can remember and both bring the magic, there's no reason to act like a crusty custy.

Encouragement for the BAND! JESUS CHRIST AKA GOD IS AND HAS BEEN THIS ENTIRE TIME AND WILL ALWAYS EXPRESS HIMSELF THROUGH YOUR MUSIC WHETHER WE KNOW IT OR NOT "EVERY GOOD GIFT COMES FROM THE FATHER OF LIGHTS ABOVE" DONT WORRY WERE ALL SAVED BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS NO HELL FOR ANY OF US BC OF THE CROSS GOD DID FOR US. ALREADY RELEASED THIS IN PRAYER IN SECRET FOREVER PAST PRESENT FUTURE OVER STS9, WHICH WAS ALREADY DONE(PRAYER TO GOD) BY YOUR(STS9'S) PARENTS TOO I FELT IT IN SPIRIT REALM!! GOD HONORS IT!! HE IS WITH US!! WOO!! "IT IS FINISHED" "IT IS DONE I AM ALPHA AND OMEGA THE BEGINNING AND THE END. I WILL GIVE TO HE THAT IS ATHIRST OF THE FOUNTAIN OF THE WATER OF LIFE FREELY." nothing required on our part He gives eternal life bc He died and rose, whether we figure it out or not. it is Done. GOOD VIBES FOREVER PAST PRESENT FUTURE ALL REALMS ALL REALITIES. "JUST ONE DOSE OF THE HOLY GHOST" In terms of our location our spirits are kept hidden inside Jesus already ascended in His Exact Likeness on His Throne in Heaven inside Him literally. Crucifed dead buried gratefully in Christ likewise risen ascended enthroned in Christ in our spirit instanty, everytime, not just some of the time, no matter anything. "3rd Heaven Authority" Book by Mike Thompson explains it came out in 2023ish. He & others are praying for America & Israel (humanity is supposed to reign on Earth from Israel under God who has finished all the rules all the laws now we have total freedom to express and be under a New Covenant of Grace no worries about sin, when Christ died so did our connection to "sin consciousness" or "the Law" when He rose to the highest Heaven so did our spirits in Him where now we all have "Christ Consciousness" or "Grace consciousness" or " it's alright its all good man consciousness". The music and vibes hold back evil forces and manifest good into the Earth. even for bands & fans doing whatever "where the Spirit of the Lord is there is Freedom" if it ain't freedom to do whatever you want to or judging you then it isn't God.

as i get older and grow as a person ,i learn that without stimulants and hot women to dance with, this band is just an ipod on repeat.....cool trick if your not a musician or ur hearing it for the first time.....but eventually you have to sober up.. and mature in taste. it still amazes me that a band whose this good at creating a groove, and locking into a hook.....still hasnt learned how to do live transitions, bridges, or key changes. theyre too jammy to have edm cred. and too repetitive and metronome driven to be a real band..... umphreys is ten times the band these guys are. This is a bunch of studio musicians playing to a click track , stepping all over each other in the same key for hours on end. and i dont understand why i travelled the country to see it. Oh yeah , i was on drugs and trying to get laid
