Thank you so much man! But I'll have to disappoint you as I sold it back in m March since these last few months I wasn't quite mentally capable to record anything, so I decided to make the change. I had this video and recording since January and I didn't even want to finish it at first. A couple of days ago though I finished recording a huge project that was sitting around since February and I can't wait to release it! It was an excellent bass thought and in the future I'd like to buy another one again. I hope you're doing well brother!

As a new bassist tinkerer, me not you, do you find the four string covers most of your metal needs? Do you just tune down? I see lots of metal tabs for the five string.
@dethpyredethpyre3462 жыл бұрын
I am a bass player and prefer to use BEAD tuning, or CFA#D#. Most of the songs can easily be played in these tunings, as the first string in a five string bass adds only two and a half steps upper range, which are rarely used. One of the downsides is that you can't always play needed octave jumps in low positions.
@CampingOutOfDebt882 жыл бұрын
@@dethpyredethpyre346 Thanks! Do you normally get the thicker guage strings then to run BEAD? I've seen where you run 5 string strings and throw the g string away.

My experience up until now is that most of a bass player's needs can be met with a standard 4 string bass. Most tracks don't require an extra high string and most times even if they do, you can still make it work with a 4 stringer. What I always pay attention to when buying a bass is the scale. The reason is that a 4 string 35 inch scale bass will suit you far better for low tunings rather than a 5 string bass that's 34 inch in scale. My Cort B5 for example, although it was a 5er, the B string was so floppy, even with new strings, that made it unusable. So that's basically what I'd suggest to you, check if the majority of the music you play and practise uses the higher string in a 5 string bass and if it does, go for a 5er with a 35 inch scale neck. If the music you play doesn't utilise the high string and you still want to use lower tunings, go for a 4 string in 35 inch scale so that you get the best possible results. Hope that I helped even a little. Some of that stuff I had to learn the hard and expensive way. 😅

My thoughts as well! I find that the scale of the bass is far more important when it comes to down tuning instead of the high string.

Mikaels bass lines aren't that complex but he makes them work.
@hephaestusofficial6 ай бұрын
That's what I've noticed too, he mostly keeps it simple and straight to the point. But that Eraser fretless intro is something else!
@8Junio762 ай бұрын
Isn’t this bass 35 inch scale? why is called baritone then?
@hephaestusofficial2 ай бұрын
@@8Junio76 exactly, it's 35' and it's B string was amazing! The only thing I'd change would be the electronics as they didn't do the bass justice.
