Just listening to your comments about Canada Post I have to make a comment. Canada Post is another one of those corporations that don't think they have to negotiate in good faith, because the government will just order the workers back to work and then impose the contract that the company wants. That is what is wrong with the whole system in North America. In Europe, or at least in Holland any corporation that is important to the economy is made to negotiate in good faith, if they don't the corporation is held responsible for the damage they do to the economy. But here companies don't have to negotiate, cause they depend on the government to send the workers back to work. The postal workers have had less than 2% increases per year over the last 20 years, that doesn't even keep up with the inflation we've had in the last 20 years. Their starting wage was a few cents above $21 back in 2004, and it is just a few cents above $22, and that is considering that most posties walk their routes with the mail on their backs, rain, snow, storm, ice, heat whatever. Not like the courier companies who drive around in vans that are either cooled or heated when needed. And the roads at least here in the North Okanagan are not particularly flat, very steep hills. And the reason CP is losing money??? They've been spending millions on unnecessary new buildings, ev trucks and robots to take away the postal worker's jobs. Considering this is an essential public service company it should be funded by the federal government, not run like a profitable private corporation. Anyway, enough ranting, have to get back to working on the gingerbread houses and get them done before next year's midwinter holiday.....

You certainly have thought about this! Current data shows that the average hourly wage for a mail carrier at Canada Post is approximately $23.96, which is about 9% above the national average. However, I think working conditions for some employees isn't easy. At least, this time, Canada Post agreed to a 5% wage increase retroactive to the day after the collective agreements expired. Interesting ideas, but meanwhile, I was still upset that we could not mail our parcels to our customers for a whole month, right before Christmas! :) I'm not casting blame, just not a happy customer. :)
