Loved this video. I remember how Stuart looked back then. I was about 8 years old then. I was born in Stuart, as was my dad. I had all 3 of my children at Martin Memorial. Went to JD Parker Elementary, Palm City Elementary, Stuart Junior High, Murray 9th Grade, and MCHS. They even mentioned the startup of jobs at Grumman Aerospace which is where my career began and ended as I am now retired. Lots of great memories.

I came to Stuart in 1972 and have lived there ever since. I was born in Florida so I'm a native of this state to begin with and have enjoyed our ultra mild winters for many decades now. We're usually at the beach every winter, which is something quite common here. Unfortunately, county taxes started going through the roof in the 1980's and just kept on going. It's *VERY* expensive to live here now, likely because every Tom, Dick & Harry decided to come down here to live and caused prices to soar to extortionate amounts. There used to be woodland as far as the eye could see but it's all been built out now and is *very* different from "the good ol' days" :(

Fascinating! This video is so 1960s! When it was made I was in 5th Grade and living in Ft. Pierce. Just 15 years later I became the band director at Martin County High School, where I worked from 1979-2010. I remember a great many of the businesses and other scenes from this time. A great memory!

I remember when Stuart was like this. Born in the old part (on the left when they show the new hospital. ). In 1955. Graduated from the High School. Still in the area, just north of the county line.

Moved to Jensen Beach in 1976 and have lived in the area on & off since (made a detour back to Boston in the 90s). How lucky was I to have grown up in paradise ...

Notice how the fisherman on the bridge are bundled up. You'd think they were fishing much much further north.

There was a certain kind of purity back then that no longer exists today. Morals, values, ethics, respect, sadly all but extinct today. That is a scary thought in just a 50 year time span.
