I once heard Stuart tell that story. He mentioned seeing an old Bible lying on the table. He said there were rose bushes in the yard. He said he knew this roses had likely been carried into that valley on a mule. Beautiful story.

@@babyr3ject927 the reaper comes to all of us sooner or later but you are so mad 😡 it’s like When you’re driving in your car & your vehicle breaks down what do you do ?you open the door get out and walk it’s same thing , like your body’s a vehicle that breaks down So then you get out & fly when your spirit leaves your body but the question is where are you going to go when you die are you going to the sky with the Lord ?not if you keep talking the way you are doing Ya need to except the free gift of Jesus Christ John 316

I well remember this beautiful song full of hope for a future free of sin and death. I was eight when he wrote this song, living with my family in a big house in a sprawling country community. We of course had no TV back then. I would’ve heard it on the radio. This brings back happy memories. 👍🏻❤️🇨🇦

This _is_ what I thought "This Old House" was about. A story of a man who had lead a full life, who had no regrets, and was ready to "Meet the Saints" and possibly his wife in the hereafter.

Actually, Veeva told me her Dad was out alone when came across this old cabin. She had another story about him playing cards with John Wayne & some other guys & he had made the comment to Wayne when he was leaving that it is no secret what God can do. She gave me a box of tapes from his radio programs. That's when we got talking about this story behind the song.

I've heard this old recording on an old record my great-grandmother had, been familiar with it for over 40 years. As a kid of 3 or 4, didn't quite understand what I was listening to, but it was always so spooky sounding, and the scene described was always so eerie. Still is. Ha!
