Wow, what a sterling performance. Makes me want to practice more. He makes difficult parts look so easy.

This man is my idol! One day I'll play half as good as him and I'll well chuffed! Thanks for posting this recital! It's really great!

@shapo812 Thanks for your encouragement! I didn't think this recital would come out so well at the time, as I was sitting in the front row with the camera on my knee, perhaps too close to get the best angles - but managed to get close-ups of the all-important fingers! And that sound....aah!

@ChrisPipeBand I guess it's all down to absolute dedication and relentless practice, and that bit of extra magic, borne of passion. Good luck !

It's a famous 6/8 march called "Leaving Port Askaig", composed by P/M Willie Ross and it's in the Scots Guards Book 1.

The last tune is Gordon Walker's arrangement of "Train Journey North" - Stuart mentions the names at the end.

Could well be a G1. I was speaking to Craig Munro last week and he uses them, so maybe that is the choice of champs. Maybe I should give them another try. Thanks for the feedback Thomas.

you play the train journey north differently Stuart from the field marshal Montgomery pipe band do. You play the Gordon walker arrangement . they play the Fred Morrison arrangement. I know cause im a piper myself :) Lewis

Can you say which make of chanter and reed Stuart is using? It has got a lovely crisp Sound.

Stu Wakes I regret I have no idea. I have heard that his band (Inveraray & District PB) use Sinclair chanters, though.
@tomsprettycontent8 жыл бұрын
+Stu Wakes looks like he's using a Naill chanter, looks like it from the top. I've heard that he uses a Naill for performances and a henderson for a solo competition. Could possibly be a G1 reed as his band is sponsored by the product. At inveraray they use G1 chanters as they're sponsored
