Hi Rob. Myself I silver solder these types of jobs save in material and expense. Yes there much waste and making a jig out of tool steel harden and temper would allow you to file finish. The jig could be used for other jobs down the way.

There are many ways to skin a cat so they say but I’d already paid for the casting so tried it, fully fabricated was my plan B but it went well I thought. Thanks for your comments though.
