Looks like a good bike. At 240kg is is just 20 kg less than my Triumph Speedmaster 2009 and it has plastic guards I think. My old Bullet Electra 2007 is holding up but the enamel on bare steel paint will need to be re-done soon to epoxy. I repainted the front guard on the Bullet years ago and it is uneven on the front. I left it uneven because it is hand made. I have been watching and waiting. I think this Super Meteor might be my next bike. You can never live with just one bike. I still think Meteor 350 is not just a smaller and inferior version of SM 650 since it is superior/different in many aspects like for example it's ergonomics which are very unique. It's foot pegs are not totally in front but enough to provide the fun of cruiser without the negatives like relativly more stress on tail bone. It has higher ground clearance which gives peace of mind especially in country like India. The stock sound of SM 650 doesn't match it's looks too.

The lack of twin instrument clocks is the stand out thing for me but everything else appears very high quality, well finished and premium. It's really good that they have shielded the rear brake cylinder so neatly. The Scram and Himalayan also have an exposed rear brake cylinder but you have to pay extra to have a shield with those and it isn't nearly so neat and 'in keeping' as the one on this bike.

Thanks for the good presentation. A cruiser is a great bike for older guys (I´m 65) as it is easy to get a leg over and most of the weight is low down so the handling is not difficult when parking. That weight is also great to have on highways, for example when overtaking lorries in windy conditions weight is just what´s needed for a steady ride. That bike is a looker, I would definitely look back on it every time I parked it somewhere. It is on my shortlist for new bike, my Vulcan is from -95 (still in good condition though) and I am thinking of replacing it with something new and this could be it. In comparison it is down almost 20hp on power so that may be a consideration but when I get to ride one I will know if that is a problem. Also getting back to chain and sprockets after a long time with a shaft drive is maybe a thing to consider but almost all of my previous bikes were chain driven without ever being a problem so that adjustment is mostly mental. Ride safe, I´m already looking forward to what you have to say when you have tried it thoroughly.

As I look at this bike my mind keeps straying as I try to imagine chrome crash bars front and rear. Leather throw-over saddle bags and possibly a couple of extra small LED rear lights? As for the weight a good thing on a moterways in windy conditions. I used to get blown all over the place holding 70mph on my old 650 Yamaha. That was the only fault if I could call that as a fault with that bike. Looking forward to seeing take that out for a ride with an old pair of scuffed up boots in the near future 😉😁. I am definitely a cruiser rider, at least 40 of my more than 50 bikes have been cruisers. They are the best, most comfortable solo touring bikes that exist. If the Meteor 650 shows up in the U.S., in the red and white color, and RE dealers don't try to sell them for nearly twice MSRP like they are still currently doing (they still have a good supply of 2022 models in inventory, because people aren't buying them at that price) I may very well buy one. I would have the wheels painted or powder coated silver within the first week, then slowly paint and/or chrome other parts over time. Being nearly 64, I'm assuming this bike should last the rest of my riding life, so it would be worth investing some money in to improve the looks. My 2006 H-D Sportster 1200L weighs 251 kg, but has nearly twice the displacement. It's also a twin. It is also mostly metal. I don't find it's weight objectionable. It has a 26" (660mm) seat height, compared to a 29" (736mm) seat on the Meteor 650, which will make the meteor hard to get on and off of for me. It's almost identical to my Kawasaki Vulcan 750, which I can just barely get on and off of, with some degree of pain.

Nice looking bike. Looking to get my certification in the spring and love the look and value RE gives. I will probably go with the Himi for my first, but these 650’s do look nice.

Uncle Stu is no sycophant...I'm pretty sure there's past videos calling out earlier RE short comings. Great review. Very enjoyable.

Lovely walk around and concise review of the bike.. as always 👍👍

A higher seat and midset pegs would make this bike, for me, nigh on perfect as a weekend runabout. Maybe this will be the basis of a 650 Classic.

Well thought out review as usual. A negative is why on earth did they put the USB in the side panel? Makes much more sense to have it under the left switch gear as on the meteor 350.

Maybe they're expecting people to take a passenger

@@chrispekel5709 yes but you couldn’t have a cable flapping around while your riding and I didn’t see any sort of slot to allow you to close the cover

Good comprehensive first look. Don't know whether RE have done it for this reason but it looks like they have taken notice of the moans about the Meteor 350's flimsy shifter linkage; plastic front mudguard and panels; plastic switch "thingys". Pity about the pinstriping on the tank being a decal. Would have been nice if the coach liners at the factory (look up RE factory video) could have done their stuff on the tank. That green colour is really classy and would look even better with some nice gold pinstriping a la Bullet.

Was admiring one of these in the dealership, while I was having work done to my Classic 350. The quality is amazing for the price. I was very surprised!

Good job as usual. Wish I could get this motorcycle as my next bike, but it’s not available in Japan and they don’t have a date yet. They suggest around fall to winter 2023. I guess EU was first after India and next is North America. Ah well maybe if it stays at a good cheaper price it can join the stable in a few years.

Eee lad, that weather looks grim in Withernsea, you need to move to Dorset. Nice video, the bike has a good proven engine and looks very solidly built in the Royal Enfield tradition. Informative review and I'm sure that this will be another success for RE and look forward to seeing them around. Thanks for the update.

Nice one Stu. A two-parter 👍. I've sat on one of these and it's a completely different experience to other bikes in this sector - the Kawasaki Vulcan 650 and Honda Rebel 500. It's a big, substantial bike. With the Super Meteor 650, RE have entered the realms of "premium" too. A T100 owner, I obviously paid a lot more money than I would have with the Interceptor - but you can see where the money has been spent. With the Super Meteor 650 though, in terms of quality of componentry, fit and finish the lines are blurred. In fact I'd go as far as to say it's right up there with Triumph. Royal Enfield have been very clever indeed - allowing themselves time to tweak the quality of successive models. I can already see this trickling down to the new, black versions of the Interceptor and Continental GT, which it seems are getting a mid life makeover. It used to be that you paid your price and got exactly what you paid for with the Triumph range - now though, I'm not so sure. I invested in a can of Waxoyl for the T100 thanks to your suggestion and treated the inside of the headlamp, the headlight brackets and the underside of the rear mudguard. A small can will allow the same treatment for the Super Meteor 650. I'd be doing the underside of both mudguards, the frame components and inside both side panels - but that's how I roll 👍😂 Edit: I recommended applying a strip of 3M clear film to the rear footpeg hangers where the side panels come to rest in the open position 👍

Hey Stu, thanks for the vid, a nice looker no doubt, completely unrelated I took my 2023 Goldwing DCT B in for it's 1st service today, 2 things happened after; 1/ I test rode an NT1100 DCT and hated it in comparison to the Wing. 2/ The courtesy bike was a Honda PCX 125 scooter which I absolutely loved... perfect for urban conditions, so I've ordered one, so destined to have Little and Large in my garage. Having a previously broken leg 23 years ago which is still only partially healed even now...I decided automatic bikes are now a must for me. Cheers👍

Very informative Stu. Not my style of bike but looks very well built.

Royal Enfield should have double dish on the front for added safety simply because the motorcycle is heavier. Even the 350 meteor should have double disc for safety. Glad to see that they're putting more metal on the bike. Does it come with a shutter stand so you can adjust the chain? Of course it would be really nice if Royal Enfield put belt drives on their export motorcycles. Belt drive spoils you.

Its a hansom lookin bike.and realy shows where RE plan on goin in the bike market. Good walkaround showing too stu. And agree with u on the fwd foot controls and rear brake taking a bit from the bike.

I'm not usually that bothered about the "dark" versions of things, but I think the super meteor would look pretty nifty blacked out. Looking forward to the review!👍👀

Quality looks good, and it'd be nice to see some of these touches like the switchgear, metal covers etc being applied to the other 650 twins. Not sure about some touches like the more modern headlight for the classically styled interceptor and GT, but seems to work well on this. One thing I would say though is that 240 kg is kinda pushing the abilities of the 47hp engine for most riders. It wasn't exactly a rocket ship in the existing twins.

Lovely looking, I'm not personally a fan of all the satin finish metals on the front end or the satin engine casings.....but at the price point, it's barely even a gripe.
