Love Mick's tutorials. I've been trying to add as many of these techniques as possible to my sparring game.

So good😀 Loved it till the last part. How do you avoid your students from breaking their toes on the knee block defense? It seems the most obvious way to stop a teep heavy opponent but very dangerous as the toes aren’t quite pulled back enough if the opponents knee is already coming up to meet it? I train my students not to do this just for safety reasons but if you know a better way of explaining this🙏🏼

awesome stuff! just a small question when catching the teep, if we leave a space between our body and the foot that's caught, wouldn't that give our opponent the space to rechamber and teep again?

This is kickboxing, not muay thai. Karate and taekwondo are forms of kickboxing, nothing is being adapted.

Joao Cardisus well if it ain't Muay Thai why they calling it teep ??,instead off front kick,and why they got Thailand Thai boxing all written in background with Thai flags and Thai shorts as kickboxing normally where long trousers as they do down my karate gym,only difference kickboxing Muay Thai is knees elbows and don't see as much flashy kicks or side stance because they will get legs destroyed,
@TheJpmaster697 жыл бұрын
+James Miles 1.Front kick and teep are different. 2.Many gyms share more than 1 discipline. 3.And kickboxing allows for low kicks aswell. So that flashy kick theory isn't true. Check out Saenchai, he uses a lot of taekwondo kicks like the twist kick, and double roundhouse kick. The reason you don't see it as much in muay thai is because those kicks aren't commonly trained in pure muay thai. The difference is that kickboxing is an umbrella term and it includes pretty much every style that includes kicking and punching, karate is kickboxing, karate is kickboxing, savate is kickboxing, sanda is kickboxing, muay thai is kickboxing. But kickboxing isn't muay thai.
@jamesmiles90487 жыл бұрын
Joao Cardisus no kickboxing did not allow for low kicks when first started was American kickboxing couldn't kick legs,what bill Wallace joe Lewis that done was basically full contact karate,then they started challenging Muay Thai fighters Japanese that's when they was all getting crushed by Thai fighters with low kicks apart from benny the jet,hence why kickboxing now uses low kicks,number 2 front kick and teep are the same kick Thai call it teep we call it front kick,but you have karate guys who like to dig front kick in to the belly like stab,where as thai fighters like to push you away with it because Thai fighters more aggressive,and no guys generally have never mixed disciplines together,hence why they are called Muay Thai karate savate sanda taekwondo judo bjj etc,only mma that mix disciplines together that's why they are best fighters because they are well rounded,
