Hello! Recently, we’ve discussed the topic of stubble cultivation on our channel, explaining the purpose and the benefits of this operation, that flow from its use. Today we will focus on the right equipment for this purpose. In the past, ploughs were mainly used for stubble cultivation, but nowadays disc harrows and stubble cultivators are increasingly applied. Using these machines saves a lot of time and money thanks to the relatively high speed of operation and covered width. Popularity of stubble cultivators, also called grubbers, results from their versatility. With this machine, you can make both shallower, as well as a deeper stubble reaching up to 25-30 cm. Some working elements of grubbers are constructed in a way so that in the case of shallow cultivation, additional side wings are used, which in turn are dismantled during deep cultivation. Compared to two-row counterparts, three-row grubbers are more expensive, heavier and require a tractor with more power. The two-row grubber was created to replace the stubble plough, however, deep ploughing is necessary after its use. Studies based on infrared analysis have shown that the two-row grubber leaves clear traces of crop residue behind the tines, which are not homogeneously mixed with the top layer of the soil. The main difference in the case of three-row grubber is the use of more working elements than in the two-row version. It is recommended for farms, which plan to use ploughless cultivation. Currently, there is a trend of creating four-row machines that do their job even better, but for most farms a three-row machine is completely sufficient. The U436 cultivator offers a wide spectrum of possibilities, ensuring fast and aggressive cultivation. Equipped with shares with undercutting wings, it perfectly fulfils its role during the initial, shallow tillage. For ploughing, you can also use the disc harrows.
