Mary, l'm 70 as well & l adopted an older collie. He's amazing. Older dogs NEED love & homes too. They have lost some of the spunk & sass as we all have ll but you'd NEVER regret it. You rescue them but they rescue you. God's gift to both of you. Can't imagine how grateful & full of love they are. Down side they dont stay with us as long as a pup.

Kathy Gray Aw :) ! is she the one in your image?
@kathylgray10 жыл бұрын
My first one was purebred male. If you ticked him off he would find something of yours and shred it. His favorite if my dad made him mad was his car washing sponge millions if pieces. My failed to bring him to their weekly visit to a hot dog stand, Laska shredded his snowmobile cover into little 1 inch pieces! My last one was 1/2 Mal 1/4 husky 1/4 wolf make him angry and he would pee on the wall! If my son did it he would pee on corner of closet in kitchen, if my husband did take him on weekly dump run he would pee ON kitchen wall!!! If I angered him (rarely) he would pee on door frame from living room into kitchen so that it ran down to my kitchen hutch! If my males didn't get their way they got even. My female puppy???? She so far has just destroyed about everything in my house?
@Chris56201010 жыл бұрын
Kathy Gray OH MY GOSH! lol they knew exactly what to do to get you back then haha smart dogs. Cougar seems to do the exact same, he usually destroys and hides slippers and lint rollers. Which is a major disaster! And luna sounds the same as your female everything and anything she will chew

@Chris56201010 жыл бұрын
To be honest you can only really guess from the size of their parents, cougars dad was huge! however he is much smaller than his dad now he is fully grow. Although when cougar was a pup he was the largest in the litter and has certainly stayed one of the biggest. I think just try and ask the breeder about previous litters and what weight and size the puppies have grown to !

Nice looking dogs ! Our family just picked up our first dog. We were told it was a husky malamute mix. Is it possible for malamutes to have blue eyes like the huskies ? What about behaviors , our milo never bites with aggression but he likes to mouth on our arms at times.. I'm trying to teach him to stop this behavior but other husky owners say this is sometimes common.
@ginomarchetti51538 жыл бұрын
naboba .......I have owned many Alaskan Malamutes and my current male is 12 months old and is show quality. Alaskan Malamutes do not have blue eyes. They should have dark eyes and light colored eyes are a no-no for them. However, a Malamute/Husky mix might be able to have a blue eye.......but most definitely not 2 blue eyes. The blue eye is a recessive gene trait and is never acceptable in an Alaskan Malamute. It shows that it is not a purebred . Blue eyes in a Siberian Husky IS acceptable and is a desired trait by many Husky Breeders. If you go to top ranked Husky shows, most will have blue eyes. Have fun with your Hybrid. ....you'll have your hands full if this is your first Spitz breed. Your dog is probably very smart and strong willed. They're so Human in their personalities.
@ginomarchetti51538 жыл бұрын
naboba ....oh, about the chewing on arms thing.......professional dog trainers will tell you to not let the dog mouth you like that. My 12 month old Alaskan Malamute was very mouthy like that (as most of them are), don't let them do that.....they will grow up and think it's ok to do that to anyone. So, yes, Malamutes and Huskies are like that.....but it's irresponsible to let them chew on anyone. They must learn to respect people or else you could have a serious incident in the future. Get things for your dog to chew on, it helps them deal with stress. These breeds need a LOT of exercise. A tired Malamute is good Malamute. ....same goes for Huskies. If they aren't exerted they will get destructive. Lots of people give large cow leg bones to Malamutes. ........I used to also, but they can break them in half with their jaw power and eventually start cracking their own teeth. I give my Malamute cow knees. Their not as strong as cow leg bone so they crumble from the chewing and your dog probably won't crack teeth on them. Contrary to some, It is ok to play tug - o- war with these guys. Just remember, with Alaskan Malamutes and Huskies you must be the Alpha. Your dog will be better adjusted and stable minded knowing YOU are the Alpha.

Gino Marchetti No problem at all! I actually ran into the owner of my pup last week. He told me that it's a full Siberian husky, but I think he is mistaken. Even though he claims to have seen both parents. My dog has really really long hair , two blue eyes , his snout and face resemble a malamute far more than a husky's more distinctive traits. As far as exercise , I ride him on my bike for two mikes every morning and afternoon. He loves it and he's very good riding along side of me. The only complaint we have his the shedding , hair everywhere. I just excerpted it as a part of life and learned to live with it. Ahahaha... Thanks for all the info. If you check my video channel , you can see a few videos of him. Thanks again , Reza

I think if you step up higher than him and tell him to go down the stairs he will listen. Another KZbinr shows that his husky will sit and stand when told to, but when the guy leans down to the dogs level (height) he wont take the orders anymore and will act like the leader. Anyway its just what I think...if its incorrect tell me ☺

I would like to talk to other Alaskan Malamute owners. My last dog was a Boxer who we had for almost 12 years. He was something else. I'll never stop loving my noble Tyson Maximus McClure. What we are learning is that every dog has there own wonderful personality. I am still learning more everyday about this breed. We knew absolutely nothing but they would never even attack a burglar and are very good with kids. He's 6 months old and 62lbs. I have been told there is a difference between the sizes of a Alaskan Malamute and a Great Alaskan Malamute. I just need maybe a facebook page for malamutes suggestion if anyone sees this??...Thanks in advance

Not sure if this owner does it on daily basis or just for this funny video. This is wrong behaviour with dog as she keeps repeating the same over and over again what in future when dog gets older he will drvelope "selective hearing". And this makes that woman as equal or weak link in dogs eyes
@Chris56201010 жыл бұрын
It was purely for the video, she was super shy and wouldnt even come out of her bed the first few days so it was so funny and nice to see her with a little attitude and warming up to cougar and the house. We've raised a fair few malamutes so she has had proper training since a puppy and has grown in to such a lovely dog.

Why is it that every time a animal shows any sign of spirit that it is inherently bad? Its obvious you have never spent any time around animals Audrone. This sir is a puppy. They play , they tease, they test limits. Remaining in control is always a good thing but allowing them to have their spirit is essential to a happy healthy animal. Its ok if your "puppy" is mischievous i promise it wont hurt your ego. As for the poster Luna looks beutiful best wishes
@Chris5620109 жыл бұрын
......a I love this comment :)! you certainly see it as a common thing on animal videos now, seems like no one honestly knows that they have their days where they can test you and try to be cheeky. People just enjoy judging you for something silly on a little one minute video, like there's no is nothing better to do. And thank you so much !
@johnkristincarmody659 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't trade my MalaBerians poor behavior for anything in the world. Mals and Sibes inherently have selective hearing. A person does not own a Mal or Sibe, the dog owns the person.

Well as this was the first time she got playful and came out of her shell since being in such a strange environment with a very large dog she had never met before, so was quite funny to see. She has quite obviously had training and been taught since this video almost a year ago.
@imeggman11 жыл бұрын
This puppy's gonna be badly behaved when she grows up if you don't make her do what you want. Saying "down, down, down" doesn't SHOW her or TEACH her what you want her to do. If she knows she can just bark at you instead of doing what you want, she's going to be a LARGE headache when she gets older.
