I was in a 4wd jeep club, we ran across a stuck class a once. We jacked up each tire and stuffed wood under the tires and hooked up (daisy chain style-about 5 of us) and got them out. Quit taking your rv 4 wheeling. Lol we had a blast helping that couple. Glad youre out. Glad youre safe.

@brianhubbard6423
@brianhubbard6423 5 жыл бұрын
@@raymondrace4837 I roll them tight as possible place a ratchet strap around them, place them in my storage compartment. It's best to use two straps on each two will roll up pretty tight together or each individually depending on how much storage you have. You can buy the ratchet straps in a group of four no need to buy expensive ratchets.

Great to see y'all got out ok. Your right RVers, boaters MOST folks will generally lend a hand when someone is in trouble. Some won't regardless, but most will. There are two types of people with rv's or boats -- those that have had trouble and this that are gonna have trouble. Good you got going with no damage or loss of life and limb.

Having gotten some military vehicles stuck in the mud🤪, I keep telling myself "as soon as the wheels spin" lift the wheels. It takes more time, but jamming something in has never worked. I've only gone deeper. A 10 ton strap is a great idea and lighter than a chain. A note to the safety supervisor; keep people out of the strike zone of the strap/chain in case something snaps.

Suggestion: try carpet instead of wood. The problem with wood or blocks is the tire has to be able to climb on to them and wood gets slick when wet. Dig out behind the tires and lay a piece of carpet in the trench. The tire may pull the carpet under itself and give you traction. If the carpet moves too much try staking it in place. We use carpet when stuck in snow or ice ruts. Carpet is cheap and easy to store. Travel and camp safe.

While moochdocking at my aunt's, we had to back our trailer onto plywood bc it was just sinking in the dirt and we couldn't level. The plywood distributed the weight and we were able to pull up onto levelers too, and when we left after days of rain, we were able to get out. Maybe in the future, when pulling into a questionable site, if you pull all your wheels onto wood, you'd have the traction you need when it's time to leave. We got lucky bc my aunt had wood to spare but that's on our list to get before our next outing.

Your ordeal could have been worse, glad to see our fellow campers are willing to help out. Got stuck in the grass at a gun shop in eastern NC. Gun shop closes at 5:00! Have to be off of property by 5:00!!. Lucky for us AAA wrecker arrived from about 25 miles away-largest tow truck made- and we got out of there at about 4:45. Not sure what would have happened if we had not got out. Always wary of grass now no matter where it is but you just have to know your surroundings.

Glad you were able to get it out. I have to admit I wondered why no one thought about the jacks sooner. But then, I wasn’t there and if I had been I may not have thought of them initially either. Lessons learned, that’s for sure.

We have not had this experience yet. But as I am sure Stacy has heard before while working ..."if you have not seen a specific complication it does not mean your are lucky only that you have not done enough of the proceedures" :) Glad all is ok and a tow strap will be in purchase basket this weekend. Thanks for the tip.

I feel for you guys, that's a very worrying situation, glad it all worked out. We saw a similar situation in Cairns some years ago, again a large bus dug in the soft soil and they had two tractors and still couldn't get it out. In the end they mustered about forty of the park people and would you believe that people power got it out!! The whole thing ran about two hours and boy were the bus owners relieved when they got freed. Downunda - Melbouren Australia

It is easy to get one stuck, once the tires spin you are done. As you learned, before you dig a deep hole. Jack the wheels up and put something under them so you can get enough traction to get moving. I have found most anything will work. I have scraped up loose gravel from alongside the road and even used kitty litter to get some traction.

I'm glad you got it out without anyone getting hurt or damage to your coach. If you don't have a roadside assistance plan through someone like Coachnet I would strongly consider it. They would have pulled you out as part of your coverage and it would have been safer all the way around.

I got our 40X class A stuck, I learned an expensive lesson, after spinning the tires, (less than what yall did), our rearend was damaged. I had to get a wrecker and pay $3400 for a rearend repair. Glad it didnt happen to you. Totally enjoy your journey.

Get a Yankum rope (Yankum.com) and carry it with you, that F250 could have pulled you out. Watch Matt's recovery channel on KZbin and see how it is used. Glad to see everyone come together and glad nothing or no one hurt. Hope to see you on the road.
