Georgia, you can actually walk into pretty much any grocery store, or go to a smaller, specialized store if you have trouble finding exactly what you want/need, and buy all the ingredients you need to prepare any dish you want however you like to eat it -- you probably don't have much time to cook, but your everyday food can be simple, basic, which does not take long to prepare, or something special, and you will save money too -- but I generally agree about American fast and processed food, you have to be careful to avoid the crap, and there is a lot of crap -- be sure to read the ingredients of whatever you buy
