Student Explanation Mummifying Apples

My apple is progressing and changing! I cannot see in the salt to see the apple, but saw some condensation one day on the sides! The other apple is continuing to mold and grow.

My apple is progressing! I have noticed the salt on top looks more drawn in around the apple

I did 3 different parts, and I haven't really noticed anything yet with the apples that I buried in the salt. One thing I have noticed is that the apple that I buried that is not wrapped in salt has caused the salt around it to harden. Meanwhile, the salt around the apple that is wrapped is still loose like when I first started the experiment.

My apple that's normal and left alone has shriveled up and turned brown. The mummified apple has started to have salt chunks coming to the surface and the salt level has seemed to go down.

My apple is shriveling up. The gauze has slightly unraveled itself, and the salt is becoming chunked.

My apple that is normal has become moldy and looks as though it has lost most of its moisture. The one covered in salt however just looks as though it has a little moisture on the sides of the bowl.
