I had always sewin it all together in one step and had wrinkles and puckers. You have made me realize that taking the time to sew front and back separately makes much more sense. Thank you!

I have just spotted your blog after inheriting and servicing my 89 year old mother's elderly Bernina! My mother was an excellent seamstress making all our clothes from vogue patterns and local cloth from the market when we were based in Ghana. But I was never on her level and haven't done any real sewing for decades. My first project is to make a cover for the machine so I am going to follow your basting techique, try out the walking foot and the quilting foot as well. A steep learning curve.... but I'm excited...

It really helps the projects to baste the foam to the fabric first. Great video.

I've tried basting like you demonstrated, serging and fusing. Thank you for the video. Love your Tula Pink fabric!

Do you have a video on how to use that foam with putting in a zipper?

Hi. What size of needle should I use when I sew with foam

I have a couple questions with the wallet. Can I use a leather material instead? And do I have to do the quilting lines down the middle? Is there another way I can get it to stay together without coming apart from the interfacing instead of doing the lines down the middle? So that the outside looks like a typical leather wallet? Also, do I *have* to use a walking foot??

What is the difference between Pellon flex foam and Annie’s Soft and Stable?
@hoodieninja704 жыл бұрын
I bought a walking foot for my Singer 4423 so I could use the Pellon 76 Flex Foam, but when I tried sewing it, I had very loose/loopy stitches on the bottom but they were fine on top. Do you happen to know what I am doing wrong?
@SewCanShe4 жыл бұрын
It sounds like your top thread came out of the tension disk. Clip the thread at the top and rethread it. That should fix it. :)
@hoodieninja704 жыл бұрын
@@SewCanShe thanks for the quick reply! I tried rethreading both the top thread and bobbin, but it didn't help. It's still doing it. :( I've never had any problems with this sewing machine and a regular foot. Also, I can't do the foam as two layers (to make a basket) with the walking foot (or my regular foot). The walking foot won't go high enough and my regular foot won't move it along. Very frustrating.
@SewCanShe4 жыл бұрын
That does sound frustrating. Is the walking foot that you bought the same brand as your sewing machine or another brand? I have had poor results with a copycat brand walking foot before. You can also use this technique with fusible fleece or batting, but of course the finished item will not be as sturdy.
@hoodieninja704 жыл бұрын
@@SewCanShe Yes, I bought the walking foot as part of a set on Amazon and it's Singer brand. Do I need a different needle? I watched another video and the lady said to use a "jersey ballpoint" needle. I tried my project with batting, but I wanted the basket to be firmer.
@hoodieninja704 жыл бұрын
@@SewCanShe So, I went and bought ballpoint needles this morning. I tried my tension at both ends of the spectrum to see if that would change anything. But no matter what, I get loops on the bottom. But with the ballpoint needle, it seems like I can sew it with my normal foot so I'll just see how it goes! Thanks again for your help.

I wasn’t to use this for a bag. So obviously I only need to sew it to the outer fabric and not the lining. How do you sew the layers together without a lot of bunching and slipping?
@SewCanShe4 жыл бұрын
Pretty much the same way - just stop after you have attached fabric to one side of the stabilizer. As you can see, they sew together quite easily.

Love the fabric your using! Like to ask the designer name for the multi color piece! Thanks

I use 1 side fusible. I never have a problem and get superb results. Saves all the basting, etc waste of time.
