Picked up some adam a5xs with the sub8, just cleared the room out so I can repair the walls (had a shelf fall down, and removing other shelves), then repainting, and eventually putting in floor to ceiling Bass Traps, and some 4'x2' first reflection panels! Unfortunately that part of the project is delayed due to waiting for Lowes to get the 47"x23" Safe N' Sound back in stock. Either way, can't wait for this project to be done! Hoping everything will be set in August!

I ended up stud walling the entire room and building the walls and ceiling as giant panels, then did some DIY panels for placement in reflection points and a cloud. It's worked out quite well so far. Bit of diffusion on the back wall. Taking measurements was fun, speaker placement is king as far as I've found with my room. I was lucky enough to have a loft space above the room that's now a giant bass trap.

Thanks for the video, I imagine that people will be realizing that treating a room with porous broadband absorption, it is very easy to do it without putting traps or resonators and on top of that the room is not dry (lack of treble). Curious frequency response from 5 Khz after so much absorption. From the video comments it appears that the absorbent panels are all broadband porous. Is it so or are there tuned panels? What measures does the room have in its 3 axes? Written with Google translate Greetings

Why did you favor S5H over smaller speakers and more acoustic treatment?
@ADAMAudioBerlin3 жыл бұрын
Hi Stephane, because this will primarily be used as a speaker-demo space, we wanted to provide the ability to listen to our main monitors as they are not readily available to listen to in many spaces. Though it would have been nice to have a bit more treatment, we were able to really fine-tune the S5Hs for this room, even with it not being ideal. Thanks for watching!

Are those panels hung on French cleats? Great idea! That what I was thinking of doing with mine. But if I want a big air gap behind the panel, how should I hang it on the wall?
@thevaultrecordingstudio3 жыл бұрын
Hey. for my studio I used robust picture hanging hooks and eyelets screws. Just that added 2 inches of air gap. You can always add more distance by renforcing/adding more wood to the beam where your hooks go. That creates more distance from the panel and the wall! Best of luck
@MusicCityAcoustics3 жыл бұрын
Those are French Cleats. When installing panels with an air gap behind them we still use the french cleats but will build a shelf like structure off the wall with L Brackets and 2x4s or 2x6s depending on the depth. If you need more info, send me an email at Graham@MusicCityAcoustics.com

I have a question about my loudspeakers. Bower& Wilkins Matrix 3 s1. The mids I have replaced with the mid woofer from the matrix 2. Same size but somewhat smaller magnet. And now my bass is gone. How is this possible?

What monitors are those big boys, are they subs? Also no bass traps in the corners? I thought they were a must when treating a room?
@MusicCityAcoustics3 жыл бұрын
Those are the Adam Audio S5hs. Corner bass traps can be great, they are a very effective way to control the decay time of a room. In this case with the size of the monitors and the need for multiple pairs of monitors when the room is being used as a demo room, we didn't have the space needed for corner traps. In order to be effective, they need to be quite large.

How do you plan to deal with the 66 Hz dip? Is it possible to remedy with room treating or will you compensate that with EQ?
@ADAMAudioBerlin3 жыл бұрын
Hi Corner, we were unable to really treat the corners or back of the room as much as we would have liked which would have certainly helped with that dip and mode. We will be adjusting the EQ here and there as we work in the room to make it as accurate is possible!

@@ADAMAudioBerlin A more effective design would have been soffit mounting of the monitors, you could have taken advantage of the unused space by placing a thicker layer of absorption in the space around the soffit, which would allow for more effective low frequency control in addition to the benefits soffit mounting provides, which would be beneficial in a room that small. I would have used the S3H which is more appropriate for the size of the room, the S5H is overkill. Next time you need a control room designed give me a call I can take a few pairs of the S series as payment ; )
