I met Pat once. He signed my Les Paul. He exuded an aura of kindness. He seemed like a wonderful man.

the young guys are good at making a song like cold duck time a bit trickier than you would think for an open studio jam like the old schoolers would normally do...yet Pat Hangs and helps them still shine...and Gerald is on his game too...wow. such humble giant cats.

Pat Martino was such a legend on guitar he didn't even need any fret markers on his guitar...knew the guitar inside and out.

Martino’s smooth fast lines and always being in the groove are so inspiring! Love when He does octave work like Wes too tipping the hat. R.I.P. Pat Martino

I've been a big Bela fan for a long time, and Pat as well. I was today years old when I realized how similar there playing style is (especially when Bela is on his MIDI banjo).

Bela should be playing like that all the time, he could be pretty nasty with samba and bebop too
@arentakaishi7102 жыл бұрын
All of these guys are monsters. I am just astounded and amazed by their level of musicality. You can picture an image of their personality and style just by hearing their instruments and how they play. This is so godly, i would just be sitting right there happily watching them play and maybe handing them water and snacks.

Amazing how they all talk over each other, hear each other and understand what each person is laying down...just like their playing! Incredibly interwoven in a mix of sound. LOVE IT!

a great video to know how a jazz tune happens.........

Two observations only 7 minutes in: (1) the understandable deference to Pat, and (2) for good reason. Listen to his guidance. He’s thinking about how this will *sound* to the listener. That’s generosity.

I just seen another video where they were claiming that it's Oleo. It was HORRIBLE! Pat was the ONLY guitarist who could do that song justice and make it enjoyable. Only Pat's version works!
@hobie1dog3 жыл бұрын
just an absolute shame that the beautiful sound of a trumpet has to be completely ruined and muffled so bad that it's hard to tell what is playing with that damn harmon mute. I wish I could have been there so that I could have removed it and smashed it with a sledgehammer then it would have sounded really good after that.
