Thank you for showing some of the basic moves. So many presenters assume everyone already knows the terms for everything... often leaving us "in the dust" when trying to follow their videos. For myself, just seeing (at 02:35) the way to synchronize the piano scroll editor to the arrangement was worth the price of admission on its own. I was cursing for days because the two were never in sync. Thank you!

woah I can't wait to compose in this. Some next level stuff. Ableton/Studio One user now. I'm glad Ableton is beefing up the piano roll and has so many amazing features I use like the instrument racks and the sound design the views for quick ideas, but even with 11 coming being able to see all the notes in one giant MIDI display is like something I've been dreaming of. Hopefully I can rewire smooth I'm low at 16gb of RAM with orchestral patches but I'll prob just go back and forth. Then the integrated circle of fifths chord tracker to really explore infinite melodic patterns to keep the energy going and tailored to song even if my flow is kinda foggy. That hold alt and drag the note and get the divisions and being able to Pull them up to create different patterns and crazy rises in energy... yeah so stoked I got this last year just getting around to integrate it into my workflow. thankyou so much for this this last year of tools I've added has really blown my mind and changed so much for me in ways I've been reaching for

Thanks for making this clear and concise video. I'm thinking of making a switch from Digital Performer and this really helps. I play in all my parts to midi and it's super important how intuitive the U.I. is for me. Now I can see that Studio would be an easy transition. One question please. Is all the midi functionality you show here available in both PRO and ARTIST versions? Thanks!

Really Nice. One thing i miss though is when editting the note length either with the arrow or draw tool, the ability to retain the length of the last note i input rather than defaulting back to grid length. It's such a hassle having to jump between grid sizes to manueover between note lengths.

Great video thank you. +++++++++ Quick question, when I duplicate a midi event it's linked to the original event, which can be so useful when editing, but how do I unlink them please when I want to edit just the one event that I have duplicated? Looked everywhere, i just want to say right-click to unlink instead of having to do a copy n paste to get unlinked events. Cheers again

Hello. I have been watching your videos for some time and would like to say thanks for all your help so far. I have been using Sonar since I first got into digital recording and finally moved over to studio one pro. I am having a particular problem and was wondering if you could point me in the right direction. I use a site @t to purchase backing tracks to rehearse covers with. This site allows me to download individual tracks. When I move these tracks to studio one , set tempo to song specifications, and start waves on marker the timing drifts making it impossible to record with metronome. I have been able to attach markers to the provided click track. I can alter the tempo of that , but how do I make the other tracks follow suit to the tempo map built off of the click track?

At your suggestion, I'm putting this request for a video here in the comments. Could you please walk through the basic concepts of key switches? Any way to Grey out the piano roll of notes that are not in the key (like melodyne would do) instead of it showing the black and white keys? Also is there a way to have the notes in the black area of the piano roll so when I'm working on the far right say and I need to grab a G3 I could see that faintly in the grid? Just curious, I only just now found out if I make the keyboard on the piano roll the lines have the note name on them. That will be very helpful!

I'm not sure if I'm going to do one on recording tbh. I probably should considering it's a beginner's guide. I just feel like there's a lot of good videos on that already on KZbin. I also don't do a lot of recording myself tbh. I should be covering the plugins eventually. Sorry I guess the answer to both your questions is I'm not sure at this point. *Question to anyone who knows* : Is it possible in studio one 5 to be able to asign colors to the different pitches in the piano rolll? I use this in cubase and am curious if if it's possible. So A is brown, B is yellow etc. Having used these colors for about 20 years now, makes it hard for me to give it up, since it makes it much easier and quicker to read "notes" on the screen. However, I do like the simplicity of studio one's user interface. Ever since Cubase became 'cubase SX', it basically made the whole user interface messy. The old Cubase versions before that had the same kind of simple looking interface as studio one now uses.

Hey bro, I like your DAW comparison video. I'm considering getting Studio One and FL Studio. I coming from film and just wanted to know your honest opinion on Adobe Auditon overall (and from a sound design perspective). Thanks. (Also, how good is Studio One for sound design?)
@ElectronicMusicSchool
@ElectronicMusicSchool 3 жыл бұрын
I have never used Adobe Audition so I couldn't comment sorry. For sound design in Studio One you'll probably want a 3rd party synth plugin such as Serum. What sort of sounds will you be making?
@isaacbedford3644
@isaacbedford3644 3 жыл бұрын
Electronic Music School I would mostly be mixing dialogue, sound effects, and music. Maybe make some original sound effects based on percussion and string based instruments. I’m also interested in producing hip-hop and dubstep related music, so MIDI stuff. Cheers
@ElectronicMusicSchool
@ElectronicMusicSchool 3 жыл бұрын
@@isaacbedford3644 Studio One should be good for all that. The only thing at the moment where Studio One is lacking for sound design is the fact that the macro controls cannot be automated individually. That would definitely be useful for dubstep sound design. For me it's not a deal breaker though. I linked to a feature request in my automation video. Hopefully that feature will be implemented soon.
