I really appreciate you demonstrating your process in your “professional” studio 😉

Thank you for watching Heather...and the message of appreciation. This is my home studio...I also have a studio space in the Art District Of Liberty Station in San Diego. It's next to the SD International Airport...so with all the planes a little challenging to do videos there!😵💫

That "apple" series is really nice ,I love the red color spots. I used my old stretched canvas paintings to decorate book covers for simple journals and they sell well at markets. But now I have used up my old paintings and have not made any new ones in forever. But your loose canvas idea and the mounting of it, inspired me to create 1 big collage/painting, I could cut up and use for that purpose. I hope all is well Denise. Good luck with your next shows and classes. Please stay in touch. : ) Going camping tomorrow. YAY

Hi Ina...you're probably already in your camp site! I love the idea of using loose canvas for book covers. I used them for blocks last year and think I may make boxes this year (when I have a free moment or two)! I really love piecing scraps together! Enjoy your camping retreat...I get to go on a two night trip in few more weeks...much needed outdoor time! Talk to you soon.🌷

Once again you showed me a possible solution to a current problem. Thanks. This pair of paintings are so compelling and very interesting compositions… similar but not the same.

Good morning Jo...happy Sunday to you. I did like the composition too and they go with a larger piece. When I have the paints out I figure I may as well paint a few...instant series! Thank you for being here!🧡

Did you say your original frame had glass, in it? Or was I plastic? This is a great way it frame. Thank you. Ps what do you do with the extra glass/plastic?
@cerropaint4 ай бұрын
Hi Daris. Yes the frame has glass or sometime plexiglass. I take that out and use the frame backing if I have works on loose cavas or paper...sometimes I use the frame for a 1" deep stretched canvas...then I don't need the glass or the backing, just the frame. I save the glass to cut down for assemblage art pieces or to use when I do cyanotypes to layer things with when I set them out in the sun. Nothing goes to waste around here!😉

Great! Love that you showed the glue options. Curious. Did you use cold wax for a fixative? The white background was like a dewy pearl. Gorgeous. Me likee mucho.

Good morning Linda...I'm always happy to see you here! I actually did a soft transparent white wash over the entire piece to calm the colors down...I didn't need it to be a vibrant as it was. It does have a dewy feel to it now...I'm liking it much better.🌷

@@cerropaint I'm amazed at how much you know and are so gracious with sharing your knowledge. White transparent wash. Get out!

Ty! Great idea and way to reuse what you have! Is it the same for paper? How about if there is more raised elements that you can't easily scrape/rub over? Lastly, does the sealing the board prevent warping? Ty again!
@cerropaint4 ай бұрын
Good morning Beth...good questions. I'm not sure what you mean by raised elements...how raised? I often have more texture and "stuff" than what is on these pieces, i.e. cardboard, doilies, stuff! It works the same, I just use my hands to smooth everything down. It can be trickier using books to hold it down and warps can happen between smooth and raised spaces. On one board I actually did a coat of clear sealer on both sides to keep it from warping , though on the other I did not and it's fine with no wrapping. Once they go into a frame they are pretty sturdy and haven't wrapped. Check back in 10 years and I'll let you know who it's going!🤭😉🌷

Hi Denise 😊...you always have awesome ideas. Is the wallpaper glue acid free? Thank you ❤
@cerropaint4 ай бұрын
Good morning Doska...No, the wallpaper glue is not acid free. I think I did mention it's not archival but wanted to offer that up as an option because I like working with it. The Neutral PH glue or matte medium is the best way to go for archival...hopefully our art will be around in 100 years!🤭Thanks so much for watching!🧡

Loved this video! I had a question regarding the metal clips that were on the back of the cardboard. How did you remove them? Thank you.
@cerropaintАй бұрын
@@kathleenc5345 Hi Kathleen…The clips they are pretty easy to just pry off. Then I sand it smooth and prime or gesso over it. I usually primer with gesso on both side to keep the board from warping. Hope that helps.👍🏻
