There is also a bit of rattling because he is tuned a whole step down from Standard ADGCF. The lesser tension and thus rattling makes strings feel fresh way longer.

I own the Gallien Kruger RB1001 amp head and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE It!!!! Playing a GK gives the sound a bass player wants to play their best because it sounds so good. Just need a cabinet now.

What my question is: how do you get this to sound good in a live setting with a full band. It sounds like a mid scoop, which on its own sounds amazing! But as soon as the band joins, in my experience, it tends to lack definition. Now obviously Matt knows how to compensate without loosing the character of this sound. Anyone any tips? I mean, dialing in mids is obvious, but also has massive effect on sound character..

This is Matt's setting for a live performance as well, his bass is always cutting through the mix. It really helps lock in with the kick as well. The Legacy is also a "brighter" solid state amp, and our active EQ section was built to "cut through the mix". What equipment are you using?
