Enjoyed the tour and it is refreshing that you only keep what you use rather than your studio being stacked out with gear you never turn on 🙂 Also interesting that you favour headphones over speakers for mixing; I can see the logic in that as it is likely even decent speakers in a poorly shaped non-treated room will colour the sound more than good phones. Best regards from England

Exactly a bad room is really your enemy even with the best speakers in the world.

Hey man, great videos, I enjoy them a lot. 'Love the image quality, colour scheme and your way of talking (good pace), it's refreshing. I have a few questions for you : When you say the last piece of gear you're using is the Prism Sound, that is to go onto your DAW, right? So what you're sending to your DAW is a (final) stereo mix? Which would mean that you do everything (producing, mixing, etc) on the MPC > then go through some hardware compressors, EQs, etc > and finally onto your DAW to render to a wav or MP3, is that the process? Or do you do anything else in your DAW? Cheers
@mpchead2 ай бұрын
Thanks. Yes that's exactly it. Mix is all done in the mpc. I record the stereo out of the mpc into the external gear for a final mastering touch and finishes in Logic pro for the final limiting before export to wav.
@nakauchi_s2 ай бұрын
@@mpchead Ok cool, so you're really committing to the mix/work done on the MPC (+ using more analog vs digital), I like that. One last question if I may, does EVERYTHING that comes out of your MPC go through the Analog Heat? I thought you only used the Heat for drums... Thanks so much for your quick reply and sharing your tips, much appreciated 🙏

8:04 You mean the SP has more quality options lower than HiFi, because the SP is 31.25kHz & the SampleTrak is 32kHz. Considering prior samplers were 44.1kHz it seems funny now! 😉
@mpchead Жыл бұрын
I don't know why companies don't include variable sample rates anymore. Would be could to see that in an mpc.
@thekeysman6760 Жыл бұрын
@@mpchead Well, you've got BitCrushers or Bitrate plugins in SP & even Koala, which means you can emulate the bit rate of the SP-1200 or whatever by changing to 12bit sample rate at 26.04kHz. Hasn't any MPC got a bitcrusher fx?

Marlow, is it possible to get close to the sound with mpc live 2 minus all of the hardware you showed in the video? Appreciate the videos and explanation that goes along with it.
@mpchead Жыл бұрын
Yes I think you can get close to it, no need for external gear. I might do a video on this sometime. But what I believe is that you shouldn't think in the terms of making some look like something else but try to achieve something superior with what you have.

Great stuff. Don’t skip the sequencer of the 60 by resampling into the X. Beside of the swing the sequencer of the 60 has some kind of „loose feel“ to it which gives it a unique character apart from the character the sample engine produces. Miss my MPC 60 MK1. Would love to get my hands on a Rhodes and a Moog One though.
