Thanks for discussing ADHD, I finally talked to my GP and she sent me the quizzes for ADHD/ADD, Depression, and Anxiety. She just wants to cover it all which isn’t her usual so happy about that! Now I just have to fill them out… been a week and a half already 😬 Your space is so nice! I will definitely have to get one of those standing/sitting desks when I move and have my new studio space!

I'm so happy she seems willing to work with you on that! Hope you're able to get the help or find the answers you're looking for xx Thank you so much! They desks are really so helpful. Even tiny adjustments to the height for different tasks makes a big difference. Definitely helps prevent a lot of neck pain when it comes to working on tiny, detailed things because you can bring it right up to your face lol

Im going to get myself checked soon because everything you have shared and said, I do as well. Its been a struggle. Your vlogs motivate me much! Even though my shop is closed for the moment lol. I plan on opening in January. Blessings to you guys in your new space! Congrats! So excited for you guys!! Can't wait fir your future vlogs!

Hahaha, thank you! Just trying to be real because I'm sure a lot of people can relate. I'm sure doubting my skills could be a part of it too! I never thought of it that way. That way of organizing helps so much! Makes it easier to clean too because when everything needed for one specific task is in the same spot, you just dump it all back in there when you're done lol. Glad you enjoyed and hopefully it won't take me 10 months to do my next one!

Quick question, do you need ventilation when using the glow forge you have? Love your space it’s awesome!
@TanaMakes3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you do! You can vent it out the window, or they have a filter you can purchase which can last anywhere from a few months to a year. If you're engraving a lot, especially wood or mdf, it clogs the filter faster, so I'd recommend venting it out the window. Now that we own a house, we're going to build a more durable, permanent piece that can be wedged in the window that the hose can attach to.

Thanks for sharing and sharing your mental health journey. I wasn’t diagnosed with ADHD until my adult years and it’s been a journey. Especially women being diagnosed since our symptoms are much more different than men. Your comment about impulse control hit home. 😂 Would love if you did a video on that little engraver you got from a person who owns a glowforge. It’s hard to get a “hobbyist” one to try out and see if you like it without dropping the $$$s. Also! Have you considered selling your “oopsies” stash (the ones that aren’t up to your standards?) at a discount, so you can minimize waste (and break even?). I always have that intention, but also lag because it’s one more thing to do. But something to consider. ☺️ thanks for sharing your journey.

You're welcome! I'm so glad that others can relate and find comfort in me sharing that side of things. :) Gosh, just knowing I have ADHD now though helps a lot when I get those fleeting thoughts to buy or try something new. I'm sure it's going to help me save a lot of money 😂. I'm definitely going to be trying the little laser in the new space because if it's good, I'm hoping it can help me make other items while the glowforge is doing the more powerful, complex stuff. I have sold my oopsies as "seconds" online in the past, but the thing is that with hand stamping, nothing is really an oopsy unless I stamp the wrong letter or extremely off centered. A lot of the times I just end up taking what I think is an oopsy in the moment to in-person events, and literally no one notices anything wrong with it and they pay full price. I find much more comfort in someone picking it up, looking at it, and then deciding to buy it at those events. It's just me being an extreme perfectionist. It's supposed to look hand stamped for goodness sakes but my brain will not accept that. The fear of negative Etsy Reviews has left me traumatized for life lol

What is the noise level with a Glowforge? I know you used to live in an apartment. I'm heavily considering getting one but I'm currently in an apartment
@TanaMakes3 жыл бұрын
The sound stays confined within a room pretty well with the door closed! My husband works from home and even when in an adjacent room, the noise level was never loud enough to affect any of his calls or zoom meetings if the door was closed. I can still talk or hear videos without headphones in the same room as it - it's just more peaceful with headphones. When I vent outside and my husband or I happen to go out there while it's running, you can kind of hear the fan whirring, but nothing louder than the hvac units already out there, street noise, or cars driving by 🤷♀️. My last apartment was ground level and one of the managers who I know noticed when walking by a couple times never said anything lol. Hope that helps!

I go from hobby to hobby, but don't have ADHD.
@TanaMakes3 жыл бұрын
Definitely normal to eventually lose interest in something and move onto something else either permanently or temporarily! Having multiple interests is fun and good for our brains! 🙂 Switching hobbies *rapidly* is just one example of how particular ADHD symptoms can manifest themselves, so the correlation does not imply causation. The rate at which someone with ADHD can shift focus can happen very quickly, like losing interest before something you ordered online even gets delivered or losing interest after a couple minutes because you got distracted by something else or became paralyzed by the thought of the amount of work or effort required. It can cause those with ADHD to spend significantly more money than a neurotypical person due to a severe lack of impulse control or constant seek of stimulation, and it can also make starting something extremely frightening due to knowledge of past experiences of never following through, causing extreme cases of procrastination or ADHD paralysis. These are just examples and ADHD isn't diagnosed by just one symptom, characteristic, tendency, habit, etc. A lot of neurodivergency is simply things that are seen as "normal" being done more frequently, rapidly, or to an extreme level, usually with a feeling of guilt or failure attached to it because we do things we say we don't want to do or vice versa.
