It looked like fun making the dummy book. It turned out so good and I hope you're pleased with it. Ooh yay tote bags 😀.

Thank you Emma! yes I Ioved the process! I think I would have preferred doing something more colourful, but I'm happy with the result 😊I'll have fun with the colours in the next project. And yay, the tote bags are coming back soon :D

Wow! #20 is your best vlog yet! 🥇I was going to watch some Netflix but opted to watch your blog instead lol, it was a wise choice. It is so relaxing watching you work your craft. You are ultra-talented and continuously impress us with your wide range of skills. I often see Raccoons here in North America, people like them for being so intelligent, I bet your book would sell well in stores here. Thank you for taking your time doing these videos, I am sure they are not easy. Looking forward to #21, #22, #23......♾.

Oh thank you! So glad you enjoyed the video..and that I could beat Netflix 😂Yes, I was thinking about starting to contact some American publishers :) Here in the UK there are no raccoons, so I don't think that British or European publishers would be interested :D And yes, I talk about their intelligence in the book! I had to read much and watch documentaries to find the content, now I know everything about raccoons 😂Thank you again!

Hey! Finally catching up with your vlog! Your dummy book for diploma project look more professional than mine :D So cool that you can use all the tools you use for creating notebooks and putting it in to this book. Also congratulations on finishing this module! Must be exiting feeling! Wish you the best of luck in your Masters stage! :))

I have only just gotten around to watching this vlog 🙈 You look so professional with your green jacket one! Green really suits you :) I love your book so much, I hope you can publish it one day as I would love to own a copy. When you were doing the stenciling, did you test doing a page of spongey texture and then cutting it out digitally? I am guessing that would have been too uniform. I love how hands-on this technique was. Looking forward to the next video!
@JessWasHere3 жыл бұрын
ahah now I have the perfect excuse to wear my froggos earrings. Thank you so much April! I don't know if anybody would be interested in a similar book 😂 I'll try to contact some publishers over the summer 😊 mmh before trying the stencil technique I tried to cut out digitally some handmade textures. I think it's a technique widely used, but I didn't love it because the edges looked too sharp and clean. What I liked about the stencil was the soft edges I got through the sponge 😊 and also, cutting the paper by hand helped in getting a more handmade feel because I couldn't be extremely precise, I believe :)
@monkeymintaka3 жыл бұрын
@@JessWasHere yes, I can see what you mean about the sharp edges. When I did my digital badger thing the other day, I drew with the 6b pencil and then used that as a mask. So the edge were a little rough. But I think actually cutting my hand gave it a really cool handmade effect! I definitely think this book would be popular! Schools, libraries etc would love it for the educational aspect and kids would love it because raccoons!
@JessWasHere3 жыл бұрын
@@monkeymintaka yes, a textured brush would help with that! After all this technique was pretty fast. Thousands of times faster than the linocut I did in my previous project oh my god 😂 eheh I completely forgot about the educational potential of the book! 😆

Oooh I would love to make my own children’s book. You have really inspired me to research how to create a children’s to find out how many pages are typical in a book, stuff like that. I have hand made a book but I think I’d like to make one digitally and have it printed somehow T xx

www.wordsandpics.org/2013/07/picture-book-basics-understanding-format.html Here you go! :D I'm happy you found the video inspiring! ❤️Normally a picture book is made of 32 pages but here you can find two different layouts. The Separate-ended book is more common in the USA, if I'm correct. Yes, if I had to self-publish this book, I would get it printed too :)
@TartantazCreates3 жыл бұрын
@@JessWasHere oh wow, thank you so much. That will save me a bit of time ;) The book I made was me painting each watercolour page and hand writing the text lol which is why I would like to do it digitally this time. I actually designed my book with a pop out page so I did not have to paint the same character on each page and only had to add the single character involved in that page with the main character lol. Of course its difficult to describe. Id show you but I put that video private because of the new made specially for kids rules on youtube. I had made the story book and told the story on youtube for my grandkids so now it is a private video so I do not get my channel flagged as I do not usually make any content for kids T xx
@JessWasHere3 жыл бұрын
@@TartantazCreates no problem! :) Oh you mean a sort of pop-up book? That's cool! now I've started to work on a popup book for the new project eheh ah yes it makes sense! Kids content is quite complicated to share here on KZbin!
@TartantazCreates3 жыл бұрын
@@JessWasHere no not quite a pop up book, though that sounds cool. It’s more like a folded page which folds out and stays out while the other pages continue to turn normally but leaves the main character visible the whole time. It is difficult to explain lol so I would open the first page then fold out the extra from the left side and keep turning the pages from the right onto the left wider page. Does that help you visualise it any better? T x

@JessWasHere3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Raquel! Ahah honestly I didn't even think about it. It didn't take that long to hand cut the stencils, so it wasn't worth setting up the file on Silhouette Studio :) also I prefer the cuts being made by hand and get a more handmade feel. Yeeeeess I can screen print! 🙌
