This is a beautiful film - very cinematic. I remember making paper just once in art class at school. But only doing one piece. And I think the teacher had produced the pulp (maybe we were too young at the time). Anyway, it’s one thing to understand the process and another thing to see it like this. The film might not be what you envisaged exactly but it’s very powerful to the senses and sensations involved. And the end result of your paper looks gorgeous! Thanks as ever for thinking creatively and sharing your ideas and results with us. 🖤

Beautiful video! I've tried this myself but always struggle with transfering the wet paper to a place where it can dry. When you press the frame down on the grey fabric, do you wait long for it to dry before taking off the frame? Do you have any other tips for this step?
@SoftlyStudio4 жыл бұрын
You should be able to lift it right away. I don't recommend the felts I'm using and here I used a dry technique but wetting the felt or fabric you are using first will make it easier to remove as well. But before transferring the paper to the sheet waiting a little bit by letting as much water drain helps to avoid the paper from moving or breaking. I usually work with two molds to give the first time to drain before transferring it. I hope these tips help. 😊

@SoftlyStudio4 жыл бұрын
To make acid free paper all you have to do is add some additives. Calcium carbonate is used for that. I use a sizing which also adds acid free properties to the paper but if you want it to be perfectly acid free I suggest calcium carbonate ❤️

As someone that is familiarized with recycled paper making, do you think there is a way to make it thin enough to be printable... I kinda have an idea for my wedding invitation and stationery, and I would love to make it myself, but i'm not that experienced so i want to know if it's worth a shot or not... Thanks
@SoftlyStudio4 жыл бұрын
Of course there is. I mean you can make it to any weight you would like. But the issue with thinner sheets of handmade paper is that it's more fragile and may not even be best to handle the printer. All you have to do is use less pulp to get thinner sheet. However, I have printed on 150 gsm handmade paper before and printers can usually handle that thickness ❤️

Hai, I really love your video. Recently I just started making handmade paper, but I got problem when I want to move the pulp to the towel, the pulp can't move, instead it sticks to the deckle, can you give me tips for that problem?
@SoftlyStudio4 жыл бұрын
It's probably the towel, you should use a material that'll work. If you're not looking to get professional couching sheets, or pellon, you can try cotton sheets. And having them wet also helps for the pulp to stick to. The ones I'm using are synthetic felts but I don't recommend as they give a very rough texture to the paper.
