I love the fact that you started with the idea to make a totebag but then switched to a blanket and ended up making a cardigan, that's actually the fun of crochet. Sometimes you start doing something then you end up making something completely different. Let me tell you that for a 1st project you made something difficult for a beginner but you made it so perfect, it's gorgeous! Bravo

If you do a tote bag with the granny squares, you can take an old shirt or other fabric of choice to make a liner inside of it to not only give a pop to show off the squares, but also hold your stuff properly!
