I personally really struggle with talking about my own mental health, so hearing you talk about your own in such a normal and casual fashion is always so motivating to me,,, it really helps normalize these things in my own head, and I'm sure you're helping a lot of others in doing so. ty for another wonderful vlog malin!! good luck apartment hunting 💕

Vlogs like this always brings me to tears, hearing someone who struggles with the same feelings about not being in charge of my life or torn between different world s/cultures, makes me feel less alone and understood...thank you Malin :') I hope you continue to find your voice and where you feel you best belong, without having to constantly thing about other people's expectations or perceptions of you 🥺💕

I loved hearing about your 3rd culture experience, because I totally feel the same way! 😭I'm Filipino-Canadian but I've been living in America for most of my life, so I kinda just feel like I don't fit in any of these cultures... What really helps me cope with this is finding friends who feel the same as me. So we find joy and fun in just being ourselves, instead of trying to be a perfect specimen of our cultures.

I have depression for years since 2018. It's hard to go to work, that I had to drink 2 glass of coffee every morning to lift my mood. I moved to another job 3 times in less than 2 years. I was working as graphic designer, brand manager, then background artist for animation. Art is my passion, but strangely it didn't enjoyable anymore. Then in 2020 I quit my job because it's getting worse to waking up from bed and do simple thing like bath. But I realize that I need money to live, and I didn't want to embarass my family by doing nothing but sleep. It will just add more anxiety. Yes no one know about my condition, not even my bestfriend, but I actively share to stranger about it because I feel better. Including now I'm writing comment here :D After quit the job then I started my own business, in handmade bath and body care. I'm proudly say that it's growing well and since I'm working at home, I have time to heal. Not completely escape from depression but I'm happier now. Thank you for making the video, I'm happy that people share their mental health, I feel like connected to people and not feel all alone. Depression and other mental health are suck, but I wish we can be happier each day, and successfully reach our dream.

I am also born in Thai and I came to Canada, and feel seperated from the Canadian culture and the Thai culture as well. I am an artist just starting to find my style and hoping to open up my own art business. I watch your videos for inspiration with my art and for tips on the business, as well I have a diagnoses mental illness and struggle with it and finding motivation and creativity to finish my art projects. First off I didn’t finish this video when it was first posted and when I went to look it back up I accidentally typed in “Made by Mosa” 😂 And for a second note I’m so glad you share parts of your childhood and culture on your channel! I feel like I learned so much today! I didn’t know about Somgkran and it was so cool to hear about. Growing up the elementary I went to would have a field trip once a year. we would go to this park that had a special watergun playground. It had fill up stations and wooden forts and tunnels. It was always the coolest trip every year and something everyone looked forward to. I only ever got to go there for school and haven’t been back since. I hadn’t thought about it for a while but your stories of songkran brought back a lot of memories of that park as a kid.

I think the “not fitting in” is for everyone who is non white but more with people born outside of the states. I know my mom will say it too. She moved to the states when she was 15 n now she’s in her 50’s n when we go visit family in Mexico she’ll say that she doesn’t feel like that’s home anymore like she doesn’t fit in there.

It makes me sad to hear that you were encouraged to believe that about your Thai culture in school. I used to teach English in Hong Kong and I felt uncomfortable when my boss or Chinese colleagues would idolise my accent, my language skills and even my skin colour - some of my pupils had parents who were just so grateful to me for making their kids sound 'less Chinese' and I'm like...please don't take your culture away from them. I was discouraged from speaking Cantonese or asking them about their language and stuff. I was told to punish them if they spoke Chinese. I obviously never did, I would end up spending a few minutes at the end of the lessons getting them to teach me Chinese and they always found it really fun. I guess what I'm trying to say though is those Thai New Year stickers are so cute and be proud!! If people don't want to support you for drawing part of your culture then they're just stinky. I'm glad you went with that theme
@madebymalin3 жыл бұрын
This is so normalized in asia too! At my school we had to pay a fee for speaking thai in school, which is why we stopped and only spoke english. Thank you for sharing your perspective and experience! Your words mean a lot to me so thank you ❤️
