The problem I have with a lot of classes like the one you’re talking about is that intentionally or not, they tend to be very ableist. The idea of spending money on experiences is great, if you’re physically able to do them. My injuries and chronic conditions have gotten to the point where even going to a movie is difficult. Travel is a nightmare and I have to plan for and try to accept that if I do travel I’m going to have to cope with being in a lot of pain while doing so and have. Along recovery afterwards. Even going to the beach for a day, which is about an hour trip for me, is an endeavor. I have a bladder condition that makes me wake up every two hours or so, and a back injury that means the only exercise I can do is slow walks and gentle stretches. So being told I need to exercise more and get better sleep is so frustrating because they aren’t things I have as much control over as most people. Being told that I need to practice gratitude when I wake up in pain every single day is just insulting. I do take time to acknowledge the good, but in order to stay sane I also have to sit with the bad feelings and accept them so I can move on. Otherwise I get buried and can’t function. Acceptance is everything. You have to be able to get to a place where you are just OK with where you are before you can start trying to be more positive. And these programs tend to skip or ignore that step. Which is frustrating.

lealmeal what? If getting a second seat solved the problem, I’d be good. Then it would just be a matter of saving up a bit more. Another seat won’t make my leg not try to collapse after sitting for too long.
@siouxgerowsays3 жыл бұрын
@@allthecolorsinmyhead I think that acceptance usually doesn't come without a little bit of age. People find it easier to say, "I can just change this habit!" - where they're really just putting off addressing WHY they have the habit in the first place. Why are you watching this or following that? Maybe you can keep these habits if you change your relationship with it. You can have everything the same, but if you're perspective changes, BAM! Everything seems different. I hope you can get beyond your difficulty in a fulfilling way. I haven't been following you more than acouple months, but if you see this Tiffany, I think you're doing great. You seem happier at the end of 2020 than you did here. WAY more confident, so maybe the class helped, or maybe something else. I hope you see it too!

Yeah.. I think, when we do something to reach our goals, the feeling of anxiety and the habit to compare ourselves to other tend to appeare somehow, which are normal, but also can be toxic to us. What I could get from your explanation is that we should enjoy the moment of our journey. it's okay to take baby steps and learn to be grateful. Thank you for sharing! 😊

It's so good to hear you talk so honestly about those things. It's funny, because I get caught up with the algorithm too and get jealous of other people who have more followers or more engagement, but then I also know that other people look at me and think that what I have came easy (teaching online, mailing list size), and it was a lot of hard work. So now I try and remind myself if that. Everyone who has success works effing hard, and you don't necessarily see the hard work online, because it's usually only the best bits that get shared (another reason why I love your vlogs, you show the results but also the work). I also sometimes get into that trap of thinking that if my work was cuter/sweeter I'd have more followers, but although the thoughts still come into my head, at least I'm no longer acting on them, which is a great relief because although it can be frustrating to not always get the validation, at least I know I'm making the art for myself. Have you heard of the concept of urgent vs important? It made me think of it when you talked about having personal goals for your art for the future. We often get caught up with urgent things, things that need our attention now, but that can be at the cost of important things and greater goals that will bring more fulfilment in the long run.

Everything you were talking about regarding wanting to feel sad or anxious when we're in that type of mindset because it's comforting is exactly what my bf and I were talking about today. The logic is a little silly but to people who experience dark moments in their lives, it makes sense because change, even if for the better, is scary. Damn, what a coincidence for me to watch this right after that conversation. 🤔 And the way that you were talking about being content and not in bliss was something that I mentioned too, because I feel that way about life rn. I was in a pretty dark place, feeling almost comforted by that stability of sadness. Now that I feel totally fine and content with life, and it definitely feels more sustainable than being on cloud 9. Totally vibed with this vlog a lot!
