I hope you guys enjoyed this weeks studio vlog 🥹🌷I hope if you are struggling to juggle your health, and personal life, know that your not alone! I almost nearly cut all of these out honestly, because I tend to just put my head down and keep plodding along, but I don't think it's healthy only sharing always positive feelings and emotions all of the time, because It's just not realistic! Anyway I will see you next week when we will FINALLY clear up the new studio and settle in, ready for a fresh start and the beginning of the christmas period! YOU DA BEST Love Catherine xxx

Catherine, I am deeply grateful that you decided to keep those segments in and share your struggles with us. For me, as a brand new small business owner, it puts things into perspective. On the one hand, I go at a pretty slow pace and take lots of breaks in my work day to take care of myself. I try to actively work on keeping the mindset that that‘s my way because it feels more healthy. But there‘s also times when things get crazy (for example market prep weeks), which is totally okay, as long as I plan to get some Rest afterwards. Nevertheless, it hasn‘t been easy for me to take care of myself in the ways I would like to do (that isn‘t solely a self-employment issue for me, it has always been there, it‘s actually getting a little better now that I get to take breaks when I need them and am able to work on my own schedule.. and now that I finally know I have ADHD and that my achievable, healthy goals look different than I thought they should look like 😅). I wouldn‘t‘ve said I‘m a workaholic because I always got pretty burnt out working jobs for others after a time. But now that I‘m working for myself and doing art I don‘t have a problem working on weekends and such, because it‘s just so much fun. And even though I take breaks throughout the day and don‘t usually work 8 hrs every day, work has kind of taken up every day of my life and sometimes it‘s hard to take a full day or more off without doing *anything* work-related. Soooo, maybe I‘m like, half a workaholic or so 😂 To bring my rambling to and end: I haven‘t got it all figured out, and honestly, it helps me to not feel bad about that because obviously, I‘m not alone in this. It‘s very comforting to know that it’s not only me, but even an established business owner like you doesn‘t always have the balance figured out. So thank you for reflecting and sharing 🧡 I hope that through sharing, you were also able to let go of some of the pressure you put on yourself. Thank you for being real and being such an inspiration!

Marshie is the best. Thank you for sharing this side. More need to see this. I’ve been a business owner since 2008 and full time 2014 with a growing family over the years and it’s really hard at times to do all the things we need to do as business owners. My biggest struggle is time. Plus I homeschool all 4 of my kids. I continue to push through and do the best I can, when I can. If you aren’t in it you just don’t get it is sooo true. I love your videos. 😊

I don't imagine many people who regularly watch your vlogs would imagine you have loads of free time, it's clear you're working more than full-time hours and putting a lot of effort into everything you do. Well done on keeping the real stuff in about your mental and physical health too. You're right, many people think there's so much worse going on that they shouldn't "complain" about what they're dealing with. I don't see it as complaining, I see it as an accurate representation of someone's life, whether you're a business owner or you don't need or want to work - EVERYONE struggles and more people would do well being honest about it. Congratulations on the grewat shop launch too. Also, never heard "cuteness aggression", that describes the feeling so well!
@kaos.karlosАй бұрын
This!!! Just because someone else might have it „worse“ does not mean that everyone else‘s struggles and feelings are not valid. And so it‘s very important to talk about it and share it. I think the saying „sharing is caring“ applies in this field, too, as sharing our struggles and vulnerabilities acknowledges them and helps us better take care of ourselves (and also, maybe getting other‘s help additionally as well as supporting others when they share their struggles with us, too). ❤

Marshie is the best! As a small business owner myself, I needed to hear this!! I’m starting at zero and my soft launch has had no orders. So being reminded that I need to be kinder to myself in these times is wonderful. I’ve never heard any other small business bring attention to this and it should be talked about more. I often find myself comparing my small business to ones that are already well established and forgetting that I’m in a different league. Seeing people with tons of products and successful shop launches makes you feel down if you post stuff and have no one even visit or leave you feedback.

I too have my own business, I don’t sell anything either, only what I take to craft fares, and what people order through FB. I closed my shopify shop down. I use Etsy and still don’t sell on there. I crochet most of the day, even at night watching telly. I love watching Katnipp as she is really inspiring and I learn a great deal. X

*marshie is the besttttt* honestly, the talk at the end about what it's like running a small business and how it can take a toll on your health is sooo relatable. i have been building my art business (seriously) since about january, and i find myself having a horrid sleep schedule, not eating well, not making time for a personal life, and overbooking myself. i love it so much, but i can feel the burn out creeping in at times, and it's difficult. it's also so hard to make others understand why you are doing the things you are. i appreciate your transparency and showing us that it's normal to feel this way

Marshie is the best! This was extremely needed and so relatable!! I've been watching for about 5 years or so now, and I still tell everyone that you were one of my inspirations to start my own lil business. I've run up to a wall a few times now where my health was just the lowest on my list of priorities. The more my business picked up, the worse I was on myself mentally and physically. Now I'm a few years in and faced with the decision of whether or not to go full time and quit my day job. However, I am in such poor health that my output on my business and my job are really not as great as I would like. So I have a lot of doubts on making that big decision. Coming to this point has really taught me that "Health comes first" is more than just a thing people say to sound good. Connecting the dots of what we've seen on your journey to what you've shared today was just a breath of fresh air because I'm sitting here thinking "Life is hard for all of us, I hope she's giving herself plenty of grace." But I haven't even been doing that for myself. It's absolutely easier to share the good parts because you don't want to come off as ungrateful, negative or whining, but it doesn't sound like that at all! You're just sharing your human experience even while doing a thing you love. You really made me realize it's so important to share when you're struggling, and I need to do that with my own lil community. I really appreciate your willingness to share because you really are making such an impact by just being yourself on your journey. Thanks Catherine 🥹

Hi, I just wanted to say thank you. I came across you a couple of years back and you inspired me to start my own online shop but I'm such a procrastinator that I was just stressing myself out so much, always thinking I need to work on starting the shop but other things would pop up, so a couple of weeks back I chose not to start a shop and I feel so much less stressed, I'm just going to focus on creating things for me and possibly documenting it on KZbin instead. So thank you again for keeping honest and showing every side of running a business. And Marshie is da best 😁

Marshie is the best Its so hard when someone has trouble balancing life with work or friend/partners/family, sometimes you need to touch bottom (hope it didnt was like that) to realice that you need to take full control over your life/health and not the other way around, theres times when you feel like if youre not doing all of that youre a failure or not given all that you can. i sometimes have to intervine when someone (mostly my mom) is not taking good care of themselves. Hope you can find that balance and keep doing the best you can.

As a fellow small business owner, thank you so much for sharing the other side of business. I resonated so much with all you said. It’s nice to know I’m not alone. I work from home and handmake baubles so this time of year is my busiest. I struggle with that balance of looking after myself and prioritising work. I am often found making baubles still at 4am just so I can get orders out and it obviously takes a knock to my health. You’ve reminded me to start being kinder to myself.

As someone who has lost 55 pounds, and resolved my Type 2 Diabetes and other health issues, I noticed your weight starting to creep back up. Me too! I put on ten pounds and now my new jeans are too tight. I allowed some sugar-free treats into my diet and started using sauces and condiments that I probably shouldn't have. I was eating french fries again, so I have to seriously cut the carbs. So I too am back on my strict Keto/Carnivore diet. So I'm with you. I've dropped one pound so far and have a little bit more energy now. I'm rooting for you! You can do this! I can't allow the Type 2 Diabetes back in!

Your health Is important and you need to slow down a bit to upgrade the work-life balance 😉 I feel you a lot because my mind Is similar to yours (full of ideas and want to do everything 😅) but you need to take your time to do the things maybe in a less stressful mode 👌 Even if you Will slow a bit we continue to follow you and buying things 😉👍 don't worry ✨ Thank you for creating this wonderful things ❤️ Sorry for my bad english 😅

Marshie is the best! I admire your positive and innocent outlook on life. You are such a breath of fresh air, Catherine … compared to so many who are so self-focussed. So when you do comment on struggles … we feel them right along with you. I just want to give you a big hug … tell you not to be so hard on yourself and suggest you might like to sit and plan a bit more. Always have a finish time that you are strict about. Plan your days realistically using hour by hour sections for your day (don’t underestimate times for each job) … and then leave 2 extra hours BLANK at the END of each day for catch up. DO NOT get sidetracked into doing anything apart from what is on your day’s to do list until everything has been ticked off. Then use those two hours for some fun stuff or some extra jobs you never get to! But … stick to that finish time. That’s my humble advice … and please take it or leave it! I absolutely love all your KZbin videos … both accounts. I am addicted to seeing your business and life adventures. Take care … and be kind to yourself. I have seen a couple of friends completely go off track after gastric bypass and because they thought it was a miracle cure kept up all their old habits … alcohol and junk food … and ended up putting the weight back on. You have worked so hard … so it is perfectly reasonable for you to take time to look after yourself. Love you to bits! Hugs xxx

Marshie is the best. I am from Australia. One of your videos popped up in my KZbin recommended and I saved it for later. Nearly a month ago I did a crazy thing and registered a business...thought oh goodness - what now. I thought of your video, found it, and binged them all from the start. I took notes! You are very inspirational! I sit back and smile at every achievement that you make. You deserve them all! My kids all know who you are now (you're always on) and my youngest daughter (10yr and super organised) has just added a Bumblebutt keyring to her Christmas list! I am so happy to have caught up and can watch you in real time now. I am glad that you shared the last part - as I have said above, I have just binged 452 videos....I often thought, I don't know how you do it - when is your down time? I had a crazy job where I worked 12-14hrs a day while looking after my family and 4 kids.....it nearly broke me...I eventually got out and won't go back to anything like that. Add downtime to your planner...cement it in and make it a non-negotiable, everything else is fluid and can move around it.

When I focus so hard on working I stop working out and I really struggle with a good balance between cooking, house work, business work and working out. It literally feels impossible to achieve all of them at the same time. 😭 I struggle wondering how others do it.

Thank you for sharing about your business! I work for myself as well and I’ve always struggled with finding a balance. This year has been a lot better but I also feel like I love the hustle, and when things start to tip the other way it takes a toll!

Marshie is the best. Appreciate the honesty. In a world where influencers don't show every side. Look after yourself. As someone with a chronic illness, I'm now too ill to follow my dreams 🩷

Marshie is the best. You da best too. Running a business is such hard work, and you're such an inspiration with how hard you work and how creative you are. Work life balance is important but whats most important is to be gentle with yourself. ❤

Marshie is the Best!! Thanks for sharing Catherine. The world is a sad place but sharing your story helps others with their own (not to mention that it helps to put things into perspective). Love your work... take care of yourself (love that Australia is in your top 3!).

This is why you are one of my favorites!! Your honesty is amazing and appreciated. ❣️ It is a good reminder for us all that everyone struggles sometimes and it is hard to talk about it. I am glad your launch did well. On to Christmas! 😁🎄

Marshie is the best! Thanks for sharing your perspective on work life balance. It is important to highlight this because too often curated content could lead folks to believe they are the only ones struggling and everyone else is perfect. Growth isn’t easy but you’re doing great.

Marshie is the best, and so are you for being open and sharing this. Your feelings are valid! We see this and appreciate you talking about it, I too own a business and have put on lots of weight due to not having the time to meal plan or even exercise so I understand. Sending lots of love to you ! P.s I placed an order last night for some new planner stickers & im sure this will organise my life more and help me reach my new healthy goal 🩷

You’ve done amazing this year, but if having less frequent themed shop launches would help you, then that’s absolutely what you should do to prioritise your health ❤ I’ve barely even started and am already working more than I ever did before so I can’t imagine how tired you must be

Thank you so much for your honest words, Catherine. Acknowledging that you have diverted from your aspirational path is the best first step in getting back on track. Fingers crossed! Of course, you can do it!

Health is always priority number one. I left a job after 23 years that often made me miserable (which I know isn’t the case with you) but burn out is a thing and you do need to prioritise slots where you totally zone out. Thanks for your honesty xxx
