As a New Yorker, this is almost painfully accurate to what boyscouting in NYC would be like. I think all Boy Scout programs are indoors and they have to leave the city entirely to actually do any wilderness stuff.

Good for you. I once had a discussion with a Webelos den in which we concluded that if everyone in the world followed the Scout Law all of the time, the human race would have achieved utopia. It won't happen in my lifetime, probably not yours either, but if we can exercise leadership by example and get a few more people to follow the Scout Law a little bit more and then they can do the same, then maybe in 100 years or 500 years the human race can advance to that utopia.
