Just to explain, incest is not normal in Westeros. It's almost as bad as in our world. Every house in Westeros is very much against it except the Targaryens. They did it to keep the bloodline pure and they were such a powerful family that they could get away with it.

The reason people had faith in HoTD was because it had a lot of the same original writers and background staff as GoT (not Dan and Dave), so they knew the quality was gonna be S tier.

The reason the places don't look like sets is because those places are actually real and not sets (well apart from the CGI to make the castles look bigger etc.) but they filmed all of these locations in different places of the world, like Winterfell was mostly filmed in Northern Ireland, Kings Landing was filmed in Croatia, Pentos was filmed in Malta and scenes at the Wall and further were filmed in Iceland. The use of actual on site location really gives this show such a realistic feel with not just the views but also the weather/climate.

NO Spoilers, just helpful tips for GOT world layout. A map will be helpful for y'all bc GOT is all over and HOTD is mostly in Kings Landing(south). In terms of hierarchy, you have prominent houses who are wardens over regions. They govern the lesser houses and people in those regions. North (Stark), West (Lannister, the richest), East (Arryn) and South (Tyrell) but the King is the end all be all. Then you have people who are a part of the small council (as you have seen in HOTD) that hold some powerful roles and brings esteem to their house names.

That's not really accurate, there's a bunch of decisions in the latest seasons that go against the spectacle that many fans wanted just because the writers thought a more grounded approach would be fittting to this kind of story, like Cersei dying crying and impotent at her brother's arms, people generally wanted her to die an awful death by dragon fire but the writers thought showing a more character driven and empathetic death was a more adequate end for her, most people wanted the usual satisfying death for a villain they hated.

Be sure and pay attention to the opening credits, they change and give hints for the episode. Also, in HOTD , the dialogue wasn’t as tight, in GOT, EVERY SINGLE WORD is important. The History and Lore would be good for you guys to watch to sort out the house rankings etc, GREAT REACTIONS!

HotD had a more peaceful era tho so the costumes at the beginning looked so new and untouched 😂 other major houses couldn't just rebel against Targaryens at the time because of their dragons. GoT started not so really long after Robert's rebellion. Cannon was right -- the stuff really looked a bit worn out and simple because these people literally had gone to war Also probably just budget issues with the production 😂 some of the actors didn't even think the show would be this popular

The Realm is in bad shape. The coffers are empty and Robert is thinks being King means he gets to do whatever he wants, spend as much as he wants, and push people around for his own ego's sake. He was good at making war and winning it. Doesn't understand that you can only let the good times roll if the means exist to do so.

I watched GoT during quarantine, and I went into it with a skeptical mindset, I just wanted to see what everyone was so fussed about. Oh boy, when I tell you it now sits at the #1 spot in my "best shows" list, it is just insane. I just know yall are gonna love it, it is House of the Dragon on steroids lol.
