Love your space, a such a clean and simple aestetic. My studio is the opposite, full of colour and clutter and I love that too. I think at as artists we process the work visually so spending time making our space how we want it is part of the creative process.

I just found your video and channel. I appreciate so much, your thoughtfulness in balancing creative time and other details that make your art process easier and more fulfilling. I'm itching to retire in the next couple of years and have been gleaning ideas for setting up an unused upstairs room for an art space. Your ideas for keeping art tools handy but organized, and the drop cloth floor covering are inspiring. I will be keeping tabs on your video content now that I've found it!

Love love love your videos ❤❤ i really like how you permit yourself to experience other mediums and styles! I feel like flowers are your current muse! Sooo beautiful! Very of often as artists we tend to stay in the same style over and over, afraid to try something new that would remove us from the consistency of our “known to all” art style. What freedom stepping outside our comfort zone brings 😊 namaste 🙏

Hello lovely! Oh yes flowers are certainly a muse right now, maybe always! I definitely grapple a lot with the whole "consistency" versus "freedom" thing... and I think it's a balance of both. But ultimately the most important thing for me is to be true, in whatever form that takes

Hi Jess. I watched this as I sit on the floor(!) surrounded by teaching binders as I sort and recycle and get ready to get rid of loads of stuff. I, too, want to start working on new art projects but my small space is so cluttered with things I “might need someday”(ahem) but that I never end up using. Part of my issue is that when my space is perfectly tidy, I can’t find anything. I need to see my art supplies and then my creativity jumps up and down clapping when it finds that perfect quin violet and I put it next to, oh, I don’t know, a manganese blue that glows in the dark. You know the one by DS. Alas, dear soul, I swear we think so often in similar patterns. I’d love to share my art with you but don’t want to here as it’s not about me. I love how you delicately replaced Pierre’s paw. So cute. Be well. And may you wear your day with ease. Dana

Hello Dana, Thank you so much for your lovely note! Ah, life on the floor. I find myself here often. :) There certainly is something about a space that's too tidy that doesn't want to allow you to get it dirty... I've been coming up against that one lately. And I would love to see your art, are you on Instagram? If you are do say hello or pop a link in the message. xj

never worked with oilpaints, but your newly built tube Station seems to be very handy when working with these kind of paints. I also love your botanical art that resembles the japanese ink art. I used to have a Phase like this many years ago, where I was very inspired by the japanese ink drawings and paintings. I really should do some of these again. It is also very nice to see you pulling tarot cards. I also do this in my daily practice and it helpes me so much to reflect on life, my needs, my relationships, everything. ❤ Have a great time turning your creative Storm into wonderful pieces of art 😘🙋🏻‍♀️

My workspace is always evolving, and your videos are a great source of inspiration ❤. I've been trying to wake up earlier in the morning these days, and it's been a game changer. Hi! Oh you just reminded me to pick up my pottery from the kiln :D My ideal wake up time is 6:30, I meditate for the first 30 mins, then at 7 make my matcha and absorb inspiration... that's my current routine. Although at least once or twice a week I'll wake up obscenely early around 4:30 by accident 🌚 xj

@studioxjess Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. I am just now seeing your response (I'm working on being more savvy with social media). I feel much more productive when I get up early, but sometimes, it is a challenge. When I try to meditate, my mind runs all over the place, lol. I'm glad I reminded you to pick up your ceramic pieces. I bet they turned out beautifully 😍

Good luck with yours!

I will be moving into a new apartment - one that we will own not rent - here in Portugal this fall. I will install so many of your ideas in my tiny studio space! Thanks so much for sharing. May I ask - how long does it take your small oils on raw canvas to dry?
@studioxjess
@studioxjess 3 ай бұрын
Wonderful! So excited for you to move into your new space, and in Portugal no less... In terms of the oils, it depends on how thick the paint is. The flowers take maybe a week to dry? I'd estimate. They are actually on clear primed linen called "Senso" (I have heard that oil paint eats the fibers of raw overtime).

Hi Jess, lovely video. Could you tell me where you got the large glass piece you have on your table? It looks like it's tempered glass like they have for 9x12 glass palettes at Blick Art, but it's never ideal having 4 of them lined up because my paint always goes down into the seams (esp. since I use thinners). I need something large like this for my oils.

I am a painter too but every time I see the art stores full of plastic, aluminium and paint which means chemicals I habe a bad conscious and I realise nobody is talking about this… Whst do you think sbout this?? I would be interested hiw other artists think about this
@christinageorgieva
@christinageorgieva Ай бұрын
I do think about that a lot too. This is what has made me not want to use acrylics. And I have the added concerns that most art supplies are not vegan. So I have to do a lot of research before I buy supplies. There are alternatives, though. There are natural paints that mimic oil and acrylics. It is also very important to not dump the brush water into the water system and there are ways to do that too. Being a conscious artist is important, definitely!

@christinageorgieva
@christinageorgieva Ай бұрын
@@beki1377 Yeah, I hear you, wool is definitely cruel. Perhaps try crocheting with cotton? 🤷🏻‍♀️ As for the paint water, you can try and search for some paint water disposal videos on KZbin. One way to dispose of it in a more eco friendly way is to let it evaporate and then remove the solid paint from the container with a wet tissue and put it in the trash or use kitty litter, because it will turn it to solid and you can again put it in the bin. There’s other ways though, so doing some research could be helpful. We can only do the best we can in this imperfect world. We shouldn’t give up on Art/Hobbies though. I find there are alternatives and workarounds these days. 💗
