Studio Screen | Elliot Reed’s New Videos (2020-21)

Join us for the online premiere of new videos by 2019-20 artist in residence Elliot Reed. Created during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, each video engages with the absence of a live audience. Centering imagination as a tool to craft memory and history, Reed renders onscreen his attempts to seek pleasure in the midst of disaster. A post-screening talkback will feature Reed and filmmaker, performance artist, and writer Jack Waters in an intergenerational exchange drawing from their shared practices in embodied and time-based media.

Studio Screen: Elliot Reed's New Videos (2020-21) is presented on the occasion of This Longing Vessel: Studio Museum Artists in Residence 2019-20, held at MoMA PS1 while the Studio Museum constructs a new building on the site of its longtime home on West 125th Street.
