@@taliaasims then you should know it's not about raising the basic living standards, it's about demanding doubling the writing staff and filling it with DEI. the concept of their demands beyond that are reasonable enough without knowing the details, but you can't demand more than doubling the writing costs in this era and thinking that'll fly.

When this happened before, Big Bang Theory was brand new and had to keep rerunning their 8 or so episodes for the duration of the strike. Also, a lot of reality TV shows were born then that remained after the strike was over, thus there was less demand for writers when the strike ended.

were it just about upping up some of the survival basics that would be one thing, but what the media isn't telling you is the absurd demands the WGA is demanding, too. they're also not telling you about the WGA workshops on how to work the woke agenda into the writing with no one noticing, as if we're too stupid to see the obvious. they're not telling you about the doubling of writing staff and their DEI demands. that's what they mean by 'mandatory staffing.' the WGA basically wants the studios to give them better pay and benefits *and* double the staff. if the news was telling you what you need to know to form a somewhat informed opinion, you'd be a fool to agree to their terms, too. the studios will just buy content from foreign companies, which is much cheaper and often better quality. they'll start relying on more smaller studios who don't use union workers, it's not as if it's a law everywhere, and put that on streaming. coming off a great year? he must not mean movies, last year was a disaster and this year doesn't look to be much better. anyway, this whole system of staff writers is what they're trying to protect more than anything. this isn't meant to help out screenwriters for movies, who negotiate a contract through their agent.

Wow. You really don’t get it. When these writers strike its more than just annoying protests. I work in production as a production assistant and I haven’t been working for 3 months but it’s not just me. Because of this thousands of people have been without work. For one movie or tv show there’s at least 150 crew members but then it’s drivers, bg, and other workers who are now jobless. This hurts so bad and unemployment could never be enough in Los Angeles
