It's such a beautiful song but as if it is written from the perspective of a person who was too damaged to realize that they can be loved like this by someone, and then they end up hiding their feelings, denying, hurting and in the end pushing away the person who loved them so selflessly, and now that they realize how much they have hurt that person and what a mistake they've made it's too late, and that they can't feel the person anymore and long for them and they can only hope the person forgives them with time. It hits really hard.
