Just what the world needs. More climate scientists .

yes actually we need all the help we could get, science only goes so fast as you have people and of course more sudden "pushes" ahead by individual teams. Do you think there's a huge amount of climatologists?

There is no greenhouse effect. The calculation of the average surface temperature of the earth of -18 degrees Celsius is based on the assumption that the earth is an idealized black body radiator. If the earth would be a blackbody radiator it would convert all of the radiation from the sun into heat and emit it directly. An idealized blackbody radiator does not store thermal energy. In fact the earth or the sea is a huge heat energy storage. The solar radiation goes about 100 meters into the sea. The earth emit relatively slow during the day and at night. In order to increase the temperature on a planet linearly the solar radiation must increase exponentially. Of course the same applies conversely. Due to the buffer storage of the oceans the radiation power decreases. Which means that the radiation duration has to increase exponentially. This increases the average temperature on a planet. With an emissivity of 0.6 the calculated average temperature on earth is about plus 15 degree Celsius. This emissivity is quite realistic since the oceans emit with about 300 Kelvin during the day and around 295 Kelvin in the night. Which results in an emissivity of about 0.51. The emissivity of the continents is of course higher. However, an additional greenhouse effect is not necessary.
