What a brilliant course. I wish this course was available when I was at NEWHAM College in the early 80's. Awesome.

@MrAlienfudge it's basically a scam to save the agencies money and liability. They (the agencies) basically pimp you out to say Network Rail. Then you efficiently become an 'Employee' of the Umbrella company. The Umbrella company charges you £20/£30 a week as their admin fees, tax and National insurance. On top of that, you have to pay their employers National insurance (another 12% ofyour pay) and deduct holiday pay also and no tax rebate at the end of the year. I only work cis self employed or direct. So say you're on £1000 a week. Cis would net £800 vs Umbrella about £550/600. As cis I also got £6500 tax rebate last year. So it's one hell of a difference. So there are two industries stealing money off hard working people. The only way I'm guessing it's legal is there are shareholders with political connections. The big con is it drives up employment figures when you are not employed or have any rights. They will sack you as good as look at you with no recourse. I'd sell my arse in Cardiff qDocks before I worked Umbrella. Sorry to rant 😂.

@@stevenwalker3102I was thinking about doing my nvq level 2. Is it worth doing? Not so sure after reading your comment 🤔

@glizzforman8094 If you have an additional skill or trade, then it's definitely the best thing to do. The money I make compared to what I used to on site as a spark is crazy. But if you are just going in to do P-way, then no, not really. You'll basically be treated like an expendable Labourer who works antisocialshift patterns. On the railsyou are only treated well if they are in need of yours kills. You'd be better off on site or another training route if that's the case. OLEC (overhead lines) is a good field to get into if you can get yourself some funding, as the courses aren't cheap.

@@stevenwalker3102 I don't have any additional skills yet. Is there any other recommendations? I'll look into that aswell.

@@Joshboy354 network rail operatives do, not contractors. and you don't need an NVQ to get a job as a contractor on the railway all you need is a PTS I've had guys who don't even know how to shovel working along side me, glad I left and persued a proper career.

"On Marijuna and things like that" 😂. A bit out of touch, this fella. Trying to catch the 50% (very generous estimate) of flat out coke head's would be more true.
