any tips for classes that are infamously difficult? ik i will have a class next year where the class average is typically around a 50%? i remember my friend said he took the class and got a 36% on the final which curved to an A, but since then the professor has stopped curving...
@keana1057

@@dreamwave5199 yeah actually! The same thing happened to me in my calculus 1 class! So what I did was asked my classsmates if we could make a discord together, most of the class joined and we’d work on homework and study for exams together. If there was anything we didn’t understand we would learn how to do the problems off of youtube, khan academy, and symbolab (because it shows the steps to math problems). I think the best tip is not to study too early or too late. Give yourself a good 2-3 days before the exams to study and make sure to score as high as you can on homework to make up for anything you miss on tests

the thing i do the most is pomodoro. i set myself a 50 minute timer strictly for studying only then after the 50-minute session, i get to watch anime which lasts 19-20 minutes minus the openings. the standard timer for pomodoro is 25 minutes of work and 5 minutes of rest time. you can extend it for like 5 hours with the same time standard. try the standard one first, trust me. even if you're feeling lazy, it's only 25 minutes of work then you're gonna feel motivated to finish your work.

Active recall is a life changer. I switched majors from nursing, but I got my first A in pharmacology doing active recall. It was important to really pay attention what the teacher would talk about in class. Then I would literally review every day and sort of pretend I was teaching to a class. If I could recall what I learned, I knew I was set to move on to the next thing.

Advice from a High School Senior: Please please please work hard your Freshman and Sophomore year. The classes are very easy and will help boost your overall GPA when it is time to apply for college. I did alright my first 2 years but completely bombed my Junior year. Now entering my Senior year, I have to work twice as hard to makeup for Junior year. Now looking back I could of saved myself from extra stress now.

Do you have any tips to share with me ? I am trying to approve my grades and I would love hearing your routine :)
@moonsonata2291
@moonsonata2291 4 жыл бұрын
Well I am flattered that you wanna hear my routine😉. Here is what I do: Step 1- The first thing I did was organize my notes and lectures in Notion. I organized them weekly, just like Janice advised. I learnt that if you don't organize stuff then you can easily lose track of the things that you learnt that day. So step 1 is very important. Step 2- Plan your study sessions. If you don't plan your day then you will easily get overwhelmed when you know that you are lagging in so and so subject . And the procrastinated work will build up, so its important that you plan your day. Be firm and give yourself the designated study time and actually do it. Step 3- Set study goals. Step 4- Take breaks. It's essential to take a little amount of break so that you don't get overwhelmed with the constant studying. Play a game in that time or watch KZbin videos so that your mind calms down from the anxiety of the pile of work that you need to do. Step 5- Do every work assigned to you before the expiration date. In other words don't procrastinate and cram. Maybe cramming here and there is fine, just don't do it all the time😁. Step 6- Test yourself. Give yourself a test of each subject on a particular day of the week. Test yourself based on what you studied in the entire week and assign yourself questions. After your lecturer completes your syllabus, assign yourself a final test of the entire syllabus of the subject. That way you can know your standing in the subject and improve the parts where you lack. I do this with every subject and repeat this every semester now. This routine is the reason my grades improved. I hope this helps you.😊

Starting off strong is so important its not even funny My last semester i had to travel for my student VISA, I was gone for 1 month and the day I flew back was the 1st day of finals. For all my classes: • I had at least an 80% for my total quizzes, full marks for attendance and participation (be so active the first few weeks, make your teacher tired of hearing from you! Then they remember your name and are like yes...they did stuff in class) • My final assignment was an essay which I AMAZINGLY was able to use for all my classes. • I got an 85% on the essay for one class and roughly estimated the same for the others. • This helped in grade calculations meaning I could fail my finals and still pass the classes with at least a 'C' • Final grades were B, B+, and C (my `c` was a miracle, my power went out and I had to finish the short answers speech to text on my phone, turned it in 8 minutes before it was due AND....I did not read or know anything about the last 4 lectures...which was the final freaking exam🥴 so go me! 🥳

How many subjects do you have to do? I've never understood this whole GPA thing. We just get percentages for our 7 subjects and then an average mark.
@vianeyarreola1421
@vianeyarreola1421 4 жыл бұрын
@@SJokes Do you happen to have a transcript that you can access? For example my school uses infinite campus where we can check are grades and assignments but there is also a button/tab on the website where you can access your transcript. The transcript isn’t finalized but it gives you an estimate of your previous years in Highschool and tells you your gpa based on the years you have finished. If your school doesn’t have something like that you can always ask your advisor/counselor/staff if they can help you figure out your gpa. Also I’m not fully sure what gpa stands for but I’m pretty sure it’s along the lines of “grade point average” don’t quote me on that though because I’m remembering off the top of my head. But you can also just google it and I’m sure google will explain it better. Hope you figure it out🤞

@@vianeyarreola1421 I’m trying to understand the system of GPA. We don’t use it here but we use the system that I previously mentioned.
@vianeyarreola1421
@vianeyarreola1421 4 жыл бұрын
@@SJokes Are you from the United States? But to put it simply... gpa is basically all your grade from Highschool into a 4 point scale and that determines what colleges you can apply for and all that. So we get percentages but also a letter grade so A,B,C,and F. Some schools have D as well but it’s more common for schools to not have it. So basically if you get straight A’s which would be 89.5-100+ you would get a 4.0 gpa but AP classes also boost your gpa and some people end up getting GPA’s up to 5.0 but that’s really rare. So if you get all A’s and one B (89.4-80?) then your gpa would be 3.9 or something like that. But remember that you can take AP classes and if you pass them you get a 0.5 boost on your gpa so yeah. But if this isn’t clear enough then just let me know👍

OMG 4.0 in a nursing program.. I have a 3.97 in mine, I got my first B+ around a year ago with Fundamentals. My prof kept changing the format of the questions every exam and would tell us we didn’t have to know certain things even when we did. It was horrible. She tried writing her own questions instead of using an exam bank and the amount of weird wording and spelling errors was insane... Needless to say, most of the class got a C even though we were all mostly 4.0 students. 😭

My macroeconomics professor did the same. Wrote his own exams and omg, what a mess. For starters, English wasn’t his first language so the questions were so awkward. He kept emailing us corrections because the exams were riddled with errors. It was the worst. I got a C+ in the class and cried. Luckily my school implemented the credit/no credit option so I was able to save my GPA. I’ve only ever gotten As before so that experience hit hard.

I’m in high school and I’ve got like 3 years until finals exams and stuff but I’m preparing early for college exams as I have the dream of having my own company but yeah back to the topic I’m trying to let myself know what I need to pass the exams, my weaknesses, what I I’ve got to improve on and all of that. For some reason I feel like I’ve been doubly hard working and I’ve been participating and having the highest attendance this months (which is good) but I feel like my teachers just don’t see it... I’m trying my best on everything I do even what I’m not interested on but I still feel like all my teachers just don’t see my hard work. But anyways that actually doesn’t matter as long as I’m doing something I’m passionate about and I get good grades to pass everything and I have high attendance and participation I’m happy with it because I know I will get to my dream :)

Active recall plus practise/doing hw is a cheat code for doing well in college/university. The only downside is that it requires a bit more effort than just reading/reviewing your notes and moving on.

I got the same CGPA. I didn’t have a fancy laptop, I didn’t need all these fancy stuff you have. All I had was a mattress on a concrete floor, a budget laptop, pencils and scrap paper. What’s even more is I got the CGPA whilst at the same time doing another diploma.

Kinda sad how many think you need an iPad Pro, Macbook a thousand highlighters, etc. No- hun, you don't need Goodnotes, an apple pencil, and more than a thousand dollars worth of stationary to get a 3.0 and more.

My Routine as a 7th grade student Wake up at 6:30 Go to school for 7 hours Come and at 4:00 and relax until about 5:30 (90 mins) 5:30-6:30- work 7:00-8:00- dinner 9:00- bedtime So I basically don’t even get that much time to be free and play without worrying because of so much going on and I still don’t get straight A’s

i didn’t even know it but as for my last year in junior high school i think i also started off strong without even knowing about it and doing it intentionally because at the last 2 quarters of my school year i was actually slacking off, i had a lot of works on wait, works i didn’t even bother starting cuz i know i wouldn’t want to do it nways and pass a badly done one, barely attended classes 😧 like bruh i was always missing in action and whenever we had a synchronous group work i was always sleeping (although felt bad for not having been able to help ://) i was so sure of my grades for the first and second quarter that i went chill but still alert on the last two quarters pf the school year !!! so basically goal as a start on my senior high school year is to start off strong and finish off still strong 🤟🏻

4.0 student here. I'm not finished with my bachelor's degree, but I'm currently at 103 credits. I never read the book, I take notes in class SOMETIMES, and I don't really study. School is all about FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS! THAT'S IT. Ya'll, just read the syllabus and the directions for each assignment. Also, ASK QUESTIONS. Teachers love that shit. Plus, if their directions are super convoluted, you can always clarify. It never hurts to clarify, plus they may give you little nuggets of golden cheat codes to make your assignment perfect FOR THE TEACHER. That's another tip: know your audience! If your teacher is goofy and funny, incorporate a little TASTEFUL humor into papers and written response tests. They will be more inclined to give you a better grade if you can make them smile while they are reading the mind numbing jottings of 48 idiot students. Teachers and professors are people too. Be kind to them. And remember: the worst answer they can give you is "no". That's it. But they may not say "no" if you participate in class and/ or ask nicely. Don't be an a$$hole.
