Hey Im from ross too also prepping for USMLE. I also didnt do Pathoma in basic sciences but Im thinking about switching out FA for pathoma pathology section. I also read the FA path sections already and want a change up. How did that go for you? Thanks
@FromD1toDr6 жыл бұрын
Yay a fellow Rossie! I think that sounds like a wonderful plan, I didn't use the FA path sections and used PA and thought it prepared me very well!

But when do you review the 4 blocks ? 😩
@FromD1toDr8 жыл бұрын
Hey! Thankfully, I have been through UWorld once through already and made my annotations in the first aid book. If I get a question wrong, I flip to the topic in FA and read up on it a bit more. It doesn't take too much time.
@shukorina136 жыл бұрын
Did you read all the UW explanations?
@FromD1toDr6 жыл бұрын
100% yes. Every single one.
@shukorina136 жыл бұрын
From D1toDr thank you! How much time did you allot to review a block? I find it taking a while haha
@FromD1toDr6 жыл бұрын
It does take awhile! But what I did was treat UW like a textbook, use it as a learning tool and you will be fine. It took about 2-3 hours each block to review answers.

Hey, When do you review the uworld tests that you do? And when would you say you started step prep. Did you use uworld while studying for NBME? Thanks!
@FromD1toDr8 жыл бұрын
+Ro Benedicts hey good questions! Since I have already been through Uworld once, I have made my annotations in the FA already. So if I get a question wrong, I quickly flip to that section of the book and read up on it after a block. I used Uworld for our nbme comp and it was amazing. I have about 6 weeks of dedicated step prep time, I never studied during my semesters at Ross at all.
@taylorporter25968 жыл бұрын
Is the NBME and COMP exam the same thing or different? Also, do you take them while on the island? Finally when do you purchase these resources? On the Island? Or while your home like on Amazon? Thanks for the help!
@FromD1toDr8 жыл бұрын
Hey! The COMP Is actually called the NBME Comprehensive Basic Sciences exam. So it is an NBME exam that Ross students all have to take after 4th semester (or 5th semester if you choose that route). You take your first attempt on island. You can purchase them anytime! The practice NBMEs are online on their website and you can get FA and pathoma before basic sciences start (amazon is the best!)

Really appreciate your video...I am an IMG as well and I've registered for January 'cause I've recently postponed my test date due to personal issues.I love the way you matched your UFaP resources but I did watch some relevant Kaplan videos which I think were time-consuming except for Behavioral Science and Biochemistry. As I am getting closer to my exam,I was looking for advices about whether or not I should take more than one nbme along with the Uworld self-assessment. What would you suggest I do?
@FromD1toDr8 жыл бұрын
Hey! I would suggest doing as many NBMEs as possible. I heard they are great practice for not only timing, but being familiar with the question style and seeing your weaknesses.

HI Emma. Any extra resources for 1st semester and 2nd semester to both study for classes and Step 1?
@FromD1toDr7 жыл бұрын
Hello Theodus ! (cool name by the way) No external resources needed for 1st or 2nd semester. Don't worry sbout Step 1 until you pass the COMP exam after 4th semester, Step 1 for you is another year and a bit away. Focus on Ross now, and Step 1 later :)

What plan would recommend from an img who has not got over first aid and uworld and basic sciences has gaps can the ufap method still work for them?

Who has not gone over First aid and uworld once in basic sciences and will be going over it for the first time.
@FromD1toDr8 жыл бұрын
Whatever you do for the Step 1, just do uworld for sure. It has been said time and time again that uworld mimics the exam. Pathoma I used for supplementation in areas I was weak on and FA as a guide. If you haven't gone over them in basic sciences, I would not worry, just start working on uworld asap!

What would you recommend as the top source for mastering micro?
@FromD1toDr8 жыл бұрын
J Locke hey! I have heard sketchy micro videos are the best. I personally just use the first aid book and Uworld questions, but if you need something more, those videos are supposedly lifesavers.
