Indian railways could solve people riding without tickets, people coming into ac sleepers without tickets, slow booking etc if we implement ticket system like we have in metros and control all entry and exit spots so that the ticket booth is the only way in. Maybe even put guards there. But the tcs lose their jobs.

It is so much advertised since a decade but yet to be seen in practice, Baidau from China is already in use all over the world but our NAVIC is yet to be seen, I think it is not working properly as most of imported atomic clocks used in such projects had issue and this news was out few years ago leading ISRO to develop atomic clock in India. I think, NAVIC is incomplete or failed project, lets hope that I'm wrong.

You can easily do it without satellite. A camera and sensor will have in every exit point of express way. Suppose A 100 km express way has 10 exit point and distance between 2 exit point are 10 km. Every exit point has cameras and sensor. When a vehicle passing first exit point then cameras and sensor in that particular exit point will detect the vehicle and charge toll tax according to the exit point. Suppose a car passing first exit point then it will charge 10 rupees and if it passing second exit point then will charge 20 rupees. If the car is passing main and last exit point of express way then it will charge 100 rupees.

I used to run a GPS tracking company. Once the system is installed your real time location is constantly sent to the server. So even if you are using a tolled road for 1 day in a month. Government will know your locations all the time. What about privacy? Why should government know my location 24*7?

Why not introduce a toll tax across India or across states so that everyone using roads is uniformally taxed. This will eliminate toll booths. How govt used to make and maintain roads when there was no toll?

This tax structure might lead to a lot of creative taxation opportunities in terms of traffic, distance, frequency, etc. Amazing .... Must be put into action quickly. As far as privacy issues are concerned I fail to u nderstand the logic behind it... However, the government ought to sincerely try to resolve this problem.

If it is fast tag I could use an alternate route to reach a part ahead of the toll plaza in the NH. But if I use this new system, I would have to pay if I enter anywhere in the NH. So, why would I shift to the new system.

Everything implemented for reducing toll booth time has failed because of people, bad toll booth operations etc. I see this case in MEP Mumbai toll naka. Pathetic road condition at toll booths, fasttag (Easy tag, ETC tag) sensors not working, badly installed or poor quality of sensors. Any next change, implement with care before money is wasted..

Tracking each and every vehicle's movement and storing data is very concerning. Data can be helpful in various aspects but it will be misused for various purpose in future. I think toll collection is just a explanation to unlock this huge source of data. In future it will be normalised to be tracked by government everyday.
