The Difference i find between Rajputs and Marathas is that Rajputs had a family background of Ruler/King family (like most rajput kings were born as a king),for them ruling was like occupation. But maratha empire was established for the sole purpose of defeating mugals and set people free from their oppression.They fought every battle for Existance and not for Ruling or to get replace throne of other king.They had fixed goal in mind,thats why they succeed,but as generation passed , they eventually faced similar fate that happens in ruler family (going against family ruler for throne)

All this until the British managed to get the Maratha Rajas to fight among themselves. The other reason is the strong sense of Hindavi Swarajya which Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj sowed. Read the Holkars, Scindias, Peshwas and the structures, temples they built (from the current Kashi Vishwanath to ghats of Kashi, Mathura, donations to Jagannath Puri). Their vision was not just the territory but the re establishment of Hindus, and that too not just in their state of Maharashtra but all of India.

B4 the first mughal invasion on rajputs, that is around 7th century, all Indians were following the rules of our sanathan dharma in wars, no backstabbing at any cost, and we must follow all the rules of war. But at that time it was the first attack by some foreigners, rajputs never knew thier barbarism, hence they fought for so long till 1000 yrs. Whereas marathas got attacked by mughals very late almost 800 yrs late, till then they got to understand the barbarism of mughals. Its all about timing here., marathas got the chance to learn n study mughals, but rajputs never got the chance, they were the first to face mughals.

Everything is ok but Brahmins were there in shivaray's court even before he became king. When he and his father used to be an army general in Adil shahi then as well Brahmins were there in their courts. In maharashtra or in dakkan Brahmins who do religious things were different from those who used to be lawyer work in maratha generals court and Adil shahi nijam. So these Brahmins lawyers were never forced maratha to do anything. And these Brahmins only became ministers in shivaray's court after he became King. Just correct that. And even Brahmin generals helped shahaji raje to save his jamin dari and life too.

Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj understood well then that, there was no point in showing any loyalty to invaders and fight with whatever limited resources you have with brilliant strategies (Ganimi Kava) given the situation. You should have mentioned terrain as a critical factor: The Rajputs primarily fought in the open plains and deserts of Rajasthan and northern India. This terrain is better suited for large-scale pitched battles, cavalry charges, and sieges of forts. Therefore bravery was the only option. The Marathas operated in the rugged Western Ghats, forests, and Deccan plateau, which were ideally suited for guerrilla warfare. They had many advantages, including intimate knowledge of the terrain. Let me correct this person. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was never anti brahmin. Out of 8 ministers 7 were brahmin in cabinet. The Second highst powerful person was Peshava Moropant was brahmin. The job of coronation was given to peshava Moropant who was having strong hold on brahmins. The coronation proceeding was not known maharashtrian brahmin as the literature concerned was not available. The Kashi brahmans Gagagbhat was basically from Maharashtra who written the book for coronation and then coronation took place.
