1.The alpha and omega- beginning and end. Sent-if you want to do good in exam u should know the alpha and omega of the textbook 2. Pull a fast one-to succeed in an act of deception. 3. Feather one's own nest- to make oneself richer in a dishonest way or improper way 4. Donkey's ears- a very long time. 5. As daft as a brush- extremely silly or foolish.(daft means silly) 6. Put up the shutters- to close a shop or business at the end of the day or close it permanently. 7. Beyond the pale- unacceptable; outside agreed standards of decency. 8. In the blues- feeling sad of depressed. 9. Catch the tartar- troublesome or formidable than ine expected. 10. A golden mean- middle course between two extremes. ( sentence-india strives to find a golden mean between capitalism and socialism) .goldilocks zone- very perfect zone. 11. Catch time by the forelock- seize an opportunity. 12. Carry out- to accomplish something. 13. Sail in the same boat- to be in the same unpleasant situation. 14. A dog's breakfast- a mess. 15. Stir up a hornet 's nest- to create a lot of trouble. 16. Penelope's web- an endless job.

'A bolt from the blue' is used in this context that: a blue sky means a clear sky which doen't have any cloud. So in this situation a bolt or a thunder is unexpected. Hence the usage comes as: 'a bolt from the blue'.... meaning: a sudden or an unexpected thing .....

sir I have drawn a blank in my first attempt of ssc chsl xm2018 as I could score mere 117 ...n this vocabulary section is a chill to the heart for me. .. I don't want to cry over the spilt milk and want to carve out a niche by cracking the upcoming exams and by looking at the pattern of this ssc xm I hv come to light that vocabulary section is an indispensable one ...plz upload more videos like this on one word substitution and syno anto as well. .this video was really entertaining

Me and my friend were on the same page on our salad days , we didn't knew beans about government exams , but we improved it wasn't a plain sailing . our decision to go for government exams was bolt from blue .it was became apple of discord between us ,but he decided to break the ice and then we sort it out . we found ourselves in horns of dilemma between ssc and upsc .
