Color Purple symbolises the dignity which Celie has attained after becoming financially independent by starting garment business. Throughout her childhood and most of her adolescence, she lives as a subjugated daughter and housewife and she wears bland dark colors like maroon which compliment her sorry state. After freeing herself from the shackles of Mr.___ , she starts wearing bright color like purple which symbolises her self respect and dignity.
